    I know how you feel, Mary. Jane one of the partners at the center, helped raise David, who is from Haiti & has all his family still there! They too live in the epicenter! He has’nt been able to get in touch with any of them!!! He was going to try and get there, but, everyone is trying to talk him out of it!! He’d be just 1 more person to worry about plus food & water are scarce! So we’re praying alot & hoping he can get through soon!!

    Just a little update on my friend Suzie’s family in Carrefour. I just got word that she has been in contact some of her family. And Aunt and 3 cousins are alive but of course homeless. There are still many other family members she has not heard from.
    Anita, my heart goes out to your friend Jane and David! At this time I think too it’s best not try to get to PAP until the situation has been better acessed. Until some organization of the process in is place, those of us that want to go and help may only be an additional hindrance. As the days and weeks go by, there will be a need to relieve medical and search & rescue workers that are there now.
    Keep praying please!
    God have mercy on that poor country…..

    Another update;
    As of last night Suzie has lost 10 family members in the quake and also a young man very dear to her heart that was in seminary. She had been supporting him prayerfully, emotionally and financially in his vocation.
    As I spoke with her (or rather listened to her) her grief was almost overwhelming.
    NOTHING that came to my mind seemed worthy of speaking aloud. So I sat silently and listened. As an hour passed it seemed that just unburdening her heart and giving a voice to the pain was what she needed.
    In time the pain will become duller, I know, but I CANNOT imagine what this must be like to go through. When will it end?
    My heart bleeds for all the thousands that must go through this tragedy.
    What to do? What to do…………….?

    Mary, what a treasured friend you must be to just be there for your friend. It is so hard not to be able to “fix” things and the best and dearest thing you can do for people terrible loss is to be there, listen, be available whenever – and for the long haul because grief does not fade quickly, no matter how strong a faith someone has. Have been praying for Haiti since the day of the earthquake and will specifically add your friend. Just an FYI for everyone – Another avenue for giving to the relief effort is through World Vision. You can be sure your gift goes where it is supposed to go. They even take PayPal. I also think Save the Children is collecting.The needs in Haiti are not only long term, but immediate in order to prevent an even greater (hard to imagine) tragedy. Mary, you have my prayers as well for wisdom and strength.
