Jane MS says:Wow! Added to favs.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 3:30 pm #
Smoky Rose says:oh, thank you! sorry I didn’t see your comment, Jane – I was chasing bees out of my home office!
no clue how the little bird things are getting in here – chased two out the kitchen door this am – me thinks there ‘may’ be a hive tooooo near by.
- not killing, just redirecting them to where they might better enjoy themselves

Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Pretty!

Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Bees in the house – not good – Kind of you to ‘redirect’ them….I did the same with a Lady Bug this am! Why kill something when you don;t have to, hu?!
Pick is beautiful – that pink tourmaline keeps showing up – It seems to go with so much, so well!!!

Smoky Rose says:how ’bout those stink bugs – do you have them down there? they keep appearing in the attic.
…….
I’m happy to capture and release most bugs – I’ll be honest, spiders and centipedes give me the creeps – the are not always so lucky
tourmaline is like jello and smoky quartz – there’s always room Shannon
On Apr 27, 2009 at 5:11 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:So True…As for the stink bugs; yes – got plenty of ‘em down here! I usually try to put the spiders out as long as they’ll be still – once they start that running business…well – like you said…not so lucky!! Otherwise, I’ll pick up just about anything…rescued a mole from the pool late one night last summer and the little blighter bit me – had to get a tetanus shot! Boy, did I get no sympathy from the nurse – she even admitted to using a larger than necessary needle to make her ‘point’! We know each other very well or I would’ve smacked her!

Smoky Rose says:tell me about it! you know, in my first (mild mannered) ‘about me’, I told you guys about feeding the squirrels at work. everyone calls them rats – they make me laugh. I work in a high stress setting – they are my little rescues. anyhow… I’ve gotten 2 now to take peanuts from my fingers – I know, dumb – I am careful – but once, this one little one that I call Crazy Orange Paws – she’s hyper all all hell – and in her excitement, nipped me – not mean, just an accident. I called a friend ‘in the know’, he told me to make it bleed and clean with chlorhex (hibiclens) – I did – didn’t tell anybody else what happened, mostly out of embarassment…… couple days go by, I go to the doc ‘to be safe’ – he’s like laughing his butt off at me saying the wound looks perfect, he couldn’t have cleaned it better – but did I learn my lesson (also got tetanus updated) – yes, I learned………for a couple days. I’m back at it – only with the one gentle angel though. Crazy Orange Paws gets them tossed to her now. – yeah, so, I was just telling Monica that in real life, I’m very shy and bashful…..
Stink bugs – what is the deal? I heard they’re from China and came over in cargo – have you heard is that true or just anti-China sentiment?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 5:34 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Nasty little buggers either way! Haven’t heard the stink bug gossip yet!
As for the squirrels; don’t feel bad – in Florida, helped neighbors raise two orphans (mom hit by car, so sad) that fell out of their nest…The CUTEST little things you ever saw! They grew up fast having been fed with a tiny baby bottle and advice from a wild life specialist. We let them go in our backyards and the neighbors built them a real condo, complete with a big front porch that they would lay across!! I fed them corn kernels by hand all through theit adulthood and got bitten and scratched constantly – no rabies here!! I will never be able to resist animals, although I try to be a bit more cautious – Husband has an absolute FIT when I pet the ‘possum that trots our back fence late at night (he curls his tail lovingly around my hand and just eats up the attention)…I can just hear the “eeeewwww” from you gals now!!!!!!!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 5:40 pm #
Smoky Rose says:oh yeah, I don’t know if my husband wanted to hug me or smack me! (no! he has never raised a hand, never – just a figure of speach)
cute baby squirrel story! my coworker adopted an orphaned baby and raised it – trained it to use a litter pan, the whole nine. We had a bat in the house last summer. I called PA game warden. He told me that bats had high incidence of rabies – so we had to be careful removing him – not an easy task, by the way. so long as I had him on the phone, I asked about squirrels (this was pre-bite), he said in OUR area squirrels had a low incidence of rabies – so when Crazy nipped me, I was ‘healthy scared’, not super scared – plus, her behavior, while weird, was no weirder than any other day – and in rabies, I understand, you usually see peculiar behavior – isolaton – acting goofy – ugly appearance – and this is not to tell anybody out there to not use super caution. I know what I’m doing isn’t the smartest, but…. I’m a big girl.

Luv2bead - Little Chick says:You won’t get an ewww from me Shannon!
That’s sounds so cute! I’d love to do that!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 5:45 pm #
Smoky Rose says:there you go! careful though, Little Chick – Little Chick, do I just drive you nuts? I never had a little sister – and sweety, I think I take it out on you
– sorry for being the over protective big sis
On Apr 27, 2009 at 5:47 pm #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:lol! I’d love a big sis! Yeah, I won’t be able to do it though, (mom & dad)! Plus, we don’t really have possoms around here. I’ll just keep petting my pets.

Smoky Rose says:On Apr 27, 2009 at 10:13 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Oh, Don’t go out ‘possum petting en masse! They can be dangerous and have plenty of sharp little teeth that could do serious damage. Approach with caution, or not at all-But they are adorable!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 10:15 pm #
Smoky Rose says:that’s right – one opposum at a time – petting en masse is sure to be a mess – they get jealous.

Smoky Rose says:what did I say about shutting up for one night?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 10:34 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Shannon! not you, sweety, ME!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 11:51 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Yeah – sure! Please don’t shut up! That would make me so sad! Do you have tomorrow off, too? If not, have a great day and get lots done!!! It’s been so nice talking to you today!
I am gonna go to bed, I think. Didn’t get to sleep until almost 3 this morning…Kinda screws up the day – nothing gets done! Got to try and get busy beading and try to finish the 2 knitting projects currently stuck on the sticks!
So Good night Smoky Rose, Plucky, Bubbly, 3K, Downy, Happy, Jane MS, Smart, Little Chickie, Tucky (wherever you are), and all Fresh Pickers near and far…Yak at ya tomorrow!
