Description from Chickie Nonnie T: Ok, true story!!! Halloween - Hubbys out of town!!! I hear a creepy noise upstairs. What is that? There's no one else in the house but me - RIGHT???? or so i thought!!!!! Slowly, I crept up the stairs, big metal flashlight in hand...Don't see anything in the bedroom...so I move further in..to the attic door. Slowly I open it with a push. Where's the light? Oh- there to the side. Heart pounding, I reach for the switch as I let out a bloodcurdling scream. My heart surely jumped out of my throat! As the burning red eyes came towards me, a horrid bat swooped at me in terror, entangling itself in my hair! The more he flaps - the worse it gets!! Swinging the flashlight, I stunn the creature. Quickly, before he swoops again, I stumble out of the attic slamming the door behind me. Needless to say, I didn't sleep at all that night, listening to the thump of bat wings hitting the door.... Moral of this story - Enter the attic slowly, lights first!

Kitty Chicky Cat says:Cool pick but creepy story! Ewwww! I don’t like bats!! I would have been so freaked out!!

FaeryGoth Chick says:Great pick and a good scary story! But sure it was a bat? Bats can see in the dark because they use echo location, and that they fly into peoples hair is supposed to be a fable… I do like bats
I have found a bat one day, so tiny, lying on the pavement. It was a dwarf bat, underfed so I took it to an animal organization and 3 months later, I got a card saying that Vlad (that was the name I gave it) was fully healed and that he has been released, back into nature. So happy the story got a happy ending

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:I do not like bats in the house but I love them outside. They swoop over my garden in the warm months. SO I know they do alot of good. So glad to hear Vlad made out okay! Hubby works on the RAilroad and they found a hawk caught on an engine. They took it to the wildlife refuge and nature center. They fixed him up, but could never set him free.

Eeka Mouse says:Good story & attractive pick to match! on a similar note, I’ll be glad when Halloween is over, and the wallpaper featuring owls w/glowing orange eyes are gone from the website! too eerie!

Eeka Mouse says:…but didn’t you learn the lesson from all the horror movies? When alone in the house, at night, in the dark, and you hear scary noises… DON’T OPEN THAT DOOR!

Beadlady3 aka Cindy says:That’s a great story, and I’m sorry but I’m laughing! I was expecting a racoon or something. Great pick, too! A fave.

Chickie Nonnie T says:OK – I’ll fess up!! The basic story is true….I doctored it up just a tad. After all, I am married to a guy that loves to fish and you know how they are… #1 – It wasn’t really Halloween! #2 He didn’t really get tangled in my hair, but I was petrified that he would! But honestly, the rest is true! I didn’t sleep that night and I wouldn’t go back in the attic until my husband got back in town. I also called several places in town trying to find someone to come get him out! Of course no one would. I spent the next several days and nights imagining all kinds of things. Of course, when my husband got back in town and he went into the attic, there was no sign of the bat, but the window had been left open. Which explains how he got in there. Actually, I like them outside(as long as they don’t swoop too close)after all I live in an area with terrible mosquitos!I’m sure he was as afraid of me as I was of him!
Next time I’ll tell you about the time he was working second shift and I saw a BLACK WIDOW spider in my kitchen!!!!

Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:Oh, Nonnie! I had a bat swoop into my hair once when I was young, & I have never forgotten. What a terrible experience, I am so sorry you were alone.
We had to call an animal company, and have someone come remove it!!
