“Rhyodacite/Raincloud Jasper”

Description from Granny Nancy: I have had a strand of this gem for some years now but haven't been inclined to do anything with it. So I thought it might be fun to do a pick.

The Rhyodacite is the second line down and second square in. Anyway, unless the Lord decides otherwise, I plan to finally get something made with it for fall.

I love the foggy, heathery tones in rhyodacite.

I’ve used it w/ montana blue crystals, rose quartz, and/or green pearls, depending on the mix of colors in the specimen. I’ve also had better luck labelling it as ‘Raincloud Jasper’; rhyodacite sounds a bit clinical for some folks, and rhyolite is also called Rainforest Jasper…

Thank you for reminding me of this stone. I also have 3 strands of the rhyodacite not yet used … one is quite beautiful but muzzy-coloured and may only need a bit of silver and nothing else. The other two are much livelier and do quite well with some rose quartz and blue kyanite.

You have picked some great companions for those long-held beads, Nancy ! It would be hard for me to decide which ones to use because they would each look fabulous – - -

Hey folks thanks… I like Raincloud Jasper better myself. This is great sharing info here as we all learn so much. I know I have a lot. I think I prefer that one pretty Czech faceted crystal in the lustered topaz color. Its not bright but would give the “jasper” a pick-me-up and also use some antique gold whatevers. I think the topaz luster comes in more than one size.
