Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:This is lovely, Elaine! Beautiful color combination!
On May 19, 2009 at 12:32 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks Lynn. How are you doing? We haven’t chatted for awhile; I’ve been fairly busy and haven’t been able to spend much time here.
On May 19, 2009 at 12:38 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I’ve missed chatting with you! I was supposed to be baby-sitting out of town this past weekend, then I came down with some kind of bug so hubby went without me. Since my daughter has tomorrow off of work, he came home tonight and I’ll go to their home tomorrow. He’ll join us for Memorial Day weekend. Did you notice my new pix with little Shelby? How are you doing, Elaine? How has Amy been?
On May 19, 2009 at 12:43 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Hehehe…we keep missing each other on two different picks! I’m fine and Amy is doing good; she hasn’t had any seizures now for about 2 1/2 weeks or so. I hope that trend continues!
On May 19, 2009 at 12:46 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Elaine, that is wonderful news about Amy! I hope she continues to do well. Did they change her meds this last time or leave things as is?
On May 19, 2009 at 1:07 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Amy’s meds were changed about 1 1/2 years ago. They slowly weened her off the Dilantin and put her on Lamictal, but for a while she was on both. I’m not sure if her recent problems are due to the new meds or not. I know that if the drugstore runs out of the brand name Lamictal and gives her the generic type, she has problems until that generic stuff is out of her system.
On May 19, 2009 at 1:16 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oh, that’s terrible that the generic can give her such problems! You’d think the drugstore would be sure they had enough of what she is going to need since it is a regular prescription refill. How long has she had seizures?
On May 19, 2009 at 1:24 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:We told her that she has the option of taking her business elsewhere for the proper prescription but she likes the pharmacist there and trusts him so she doesn’t want to go anywhere else. There is some type of anti-depressant component in the generic that causes the problems apparently.
She was diagnosed with epilepsy about 4 years ago. Of course we probably will never know what triggered it; she asks herself that question everyday, I’m sure.

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:It is important to have a pharmacist you can trust. Often they can give you better RX info than the doctor! I’m just so sorry she has these problems — and I know how it must worry you as her mom.

J Yee smart chick says:elaine,
love this latest “rose teapot” Pick, the vivid pinks, soft oranges and lovely green/blues go so well together!!!! also very glad to hear your daughter is doing better and sorry to hear about how complicated getting her the right medications for her seizures is. like chicky LE I’m glad she has a pharmacist she can trust, very important in these days of short appointments with most doctors!
On May 19, 2009 at 1:39 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:I know that a person can get far better info from a pharmacist than from a doctor!!
Yes, we definitely worry about her…her health as far as her head injury and scar tissue on the brain (we have been told that many problems are caused from the scarring on a brain as opposed to the injury itself and can show up years after the initial injury), her frame of mind and her financial future, etc. It doesn’t matter how old they get, you worry!

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks, Smart Chick!
Well ladies, it’s been great chatting with you, but it’s way past my bed-time and I want to be wide awake if my new beads come tomorrow so I can start creating again!!

Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Elaine, this is just lovely.
I’m sorry to hear your daughter’s health issues are so serious, and so worrying for you. We will pray for healing.
I agree about a good pharmacist: when hubby was diagnosed w/diabetes, it was the pharmacist who took the time to explain about the meters, how to use the apparatus, and lots of good basic info the doctor did not take time for.
If my M.D. at the clinic I use has to spend extra time to answer many questions, you get charged extra for an “in depth consult.” Often, better off seeing the PA.
On May 19, 2009 at 11:28 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks again ladies!
Happy Chick…I can’t believe that you are charged extra at your clinic to have questions answered; that’s ridiculous! How is your husband dealing with his diabetes; does he have to take the needles or just take the pills?
On May 19, 2009 at 11:44 am #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:Ladies, thanks for all your comments about a good pharmacist! I happen to be one (a pharmacist)and know that sometimes the doctors don’t take the time to explain everything. We love to help our customers!
On May 19, 2009 at 12:13 pm #
CAS says:Chocolate Chick it seems that MDs leave all the explaining to the pharmacists and nurses. I don’t know how many times I had to sit and explain meds when I worked for the Visiting Nurses. I was always happy when I had a question that I could always call the pharmacist to get it answered.
Belly Chick, I’m so happy that Amy’s doing better. As you’ve both found some people just can’t tolerate the generic brand of a drug, has she let her pharmacist know that she can’t take the generic at all? Maybe then he/she (pharmacist) can get in a more steady supply? Beautyful pick BTW!
On May 19, 2009 at 1:42 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Hi CAS, yes, Amy has told her pharmacist know about the problem so I hope now they get on the ball with it.
On May 19, 2009 at 7:50 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Elaine, my husband has been lucky and disciplined. He was on the pills, but for several years now, he has been managing with diet and exercise.
He lost a lot of weight, and really listens to his body. He can tell when his blood sugar is getting too low and he needs to have a little boost from a healthy snack, or even occasionally needs a bite of candy.
