“RubberT's Rosary-Daughter”

Description from RubberT aka Plucky Chick: Picture of the LB Madagascar Carnelian doesn't do it justice--no fault of the photographer, it is just hard to capture the bright fire coloring of the stone! I am using a tiny bit of yellow turquoise, which is the mom's birthstone.

I’ve been wanting to make a rosary. Are you using a chain between the beads? Did you get supplies from a rosary store. I love the colors…I’ll keep thinking.

My first one I used a wire-wrapping technique, but it was a few years ago and I wasn’t happy with my wire-wrapping skill. So the next three I used flex-wire and I liked them better. I ordered rosary supplies on-line because I couldn’t find what I wanted anywhere in a store. I was happy with my order and the selection they offered. Haven’t ordered yet for the ones I am making now.

I’ll post the website when I finally order. I will post pics of the ones I have made, but I gave them away, so I will have to get my daughter and nieces to send me a pic!!

RTomato I don’t think that I could do the wire-wrapping type very well. Plus, I like the looseness of the chain between the stations when I’m holding the rosary.

Interesting! I felt like the wire wrapped one I made tangled too easily. Some day I will do another one and see if I can make it smoother. Have you looked at sample pics on line?

RT I’ve looked at some online pics…but I’m not sure that I could do it..It seems like it would tangle easily.

A Golke, I did like your “Across the Border” fresh pic, so I added it to my favorites. That’s kind of what I am going for.

Hmm..I tried to post a website to the wire-wrapped photo and instructions on making a chain rosary, but it wouldn’t let me. website is rosarymakersguide then dot org

just trying to give credit to the pic!

LOL I have a feeling I am way too familiar with your hundreds of picks at the moment. Wonder why? Could it be your eggs-ellent tastes?

    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

Oh, don’t even go there, I still have’nt eaten an egg!!!lol… So, your trying for a Mexican look!!??!

    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

No, I just want it to blend. The mom likes red. I think I want to stay away from black, even though black looks good. I want colorful!

My daughter “accidently” boiled an extra dozen eggs, so we are trying to eat 3 dozen eggs in the next few days! Tuna salad yesterday, potato salad today…

Are’nt the Citrine side drilled nuggets kind of big??? I like 2, 3, and 4 together more!! Have you, used chain in-between the beads, before??

  17. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

You have my sympathy!!! I don’t have to make Eastr eggs til Sat. We have our get together a week after!!! Maybe by then I can face them!!!lol…

I bought the Citrine over a year ago, way before I knew about Limabeads! They are the color of the nuggets, but much smaller, about 12mm. I bought the darker, smaller citrine from Limabeads, along with the others in the pick, except for the poppy jasper..which I am thinking about buying for this project. I have picked out other possibilites, just can’t decide!!!!

    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

I think for design would like to use 10-12mm large bead (turquoise for one, light citrine for the other) with dark citrine on either side. Need to get turquoise on the citrine rosary somehow. Would use 6-8mm beads (don’t know what kind) with tiny beads in between (don’t know what kind).

    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

It does take time sometimes! The one I am making for my daughter and friend is coming together beautifully!

  23. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

Those colors would be perfect, since the yellow citrine is the right size!! I like the red crazy lace or poppy jasper for the smaller beads!! What do you think??

  24. No Photo
    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

Red crazy lace seemed too light. I will have to use it for something else (oh, darn, LOL). Since I will have to order the poppy jasper, I could order anything..garnet, madagascar carnelian, canadian jade.. I will update the pick and see what you think. Thanks, by the way. I will understand if you tire of giving your opinion!

Ha! Maybe I should order one strand of everything and then decide! augh!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:

have you tried tiger eye with the citrine and turquoise. the citrine rondelles should make the yellow pop in the tiger eye. And I do love the contrast of brown and turquoise.

    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

Thanks, Jeannes Gems! That does sound good! I will give it a try!

    Smoky Rose says:

I read the rosary dilema earlier today and sympathized with you. this time last year, I offered to make one for my nephew for his First Holy Communion. I took a class in wire, because I was shakey with manipulating nice smooth loops (quite the beginner – especially so last spring) – I tried and tried – I finally was so embarassed and frustrated that I bought him a pretty one with his birthstone (Amethyst) & SS.
    Good Luck with that.

    RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:

Ah! I will have to get my daughter to send me a pic of the amethyst one I made for her a few years ago! I struggled and struggled, but was happy with the way it finally turned out!

I changed the title and the stones. What was originally “RubberT’s Rosary Challenge is now RubberT’s Rosary-Daughter. I changed the description also. Thanks, everyone, for the input!!
