    Ivy! Best Wishes!
I would have thought myself more traditional, but thinking of you wishes to honor your heritage – and seeing so many of your very dynamic picks, I’m really leaning toward Spanish Wedding or Sexy Diva Wedding. They’re all gorgeous, but I like the extra spice of these two in particular!

  2. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

you really have a lot going on right now! – planning the wedding, the restaurant – your beautiful children – my gosh! how do you do it?
-what brand of vitamins do you take? ;)
    you have my admiration!

  3. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Good morning Mary and thank you! Those are the two that I’m leaning towards too!! The color combos in them are very “me.” I do love traditional weddings as well but I know I would feel disappointed if I didn’t add a little spice! lol

    You need spice! lol

  5. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

HA HA! Thanks Mary. If it weren’t for my husband (to be!) I wouldn’t be able to do it all. Oh, and the fact that I’m a stay-at-home-mom helps a little bit too! lol But, the wedding won’t be til next summer (hopefully.) I’m actually also trying to get my jewelry business off the ground which is pretty time consuming in itself. Maybe I should stop doing fresh picks! lol

don’t you dare stop doing picks! :)

which ever color scheme you choose, I know we’ll all be dying to see pix! – and which ever you choose, you’ll be a beautiful bride!

PLEASE, can you fill me in on the restaurant I keep hearing about? Sounds exciting (and probably a little nerve racking too HUH?)!
    Good Luck!!

  12. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Oh, it’s not a big deal really, it’s this tiny little place we’re gonna open next month called the Oasis Cafe. The whole thing is actually on a dock on the water so it’s all outdoor seating. We’re gonna use a tropical color scheme being that we’ll be serving mostly Puerto Rican seafood dishes. (My husband is the cook of the two!) He’s owned a few successful restaurants previously so he’s not too worried about it, more excited than anything because it’s his passion.

-Mary, I think it’s all explained in Ivy’s pick “The Oasis Cafe” :)

lol. ps- Question out of the blue, “I wonder where everybody is?!” Probably hunting eggs. Have you searched Ivy?

  20. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

I found 10 eggs so far and already claimed my two free prizes so I’m good. I gave up looking yesterday. I spend enough time on here as it is already so if I continue this egg hunt the housework will never get done!!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:

Cool. I’ll check it out. I bet I missed The Oasis Cafe pick while on our mission trip. Coincidently we had a Cuban doctor join us and he had just moved from
Puerto Rico. He loves to cook (so do I) and he was sharing some recipes with us.
I’d love to try them but I know I won’t do them justice.

  22. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

You went to Haiti, right? That was a great pick. (I’m still trying to do Cuban cooking some justice too but I’m sure my grandmother would not approve! LOL)

  23. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

I wore ivory. My complexion looks yellow next to optic white. Ever since I was little, I wanted blues – to honor the Blessed Mother. I had one maid, my maid of honor – she wore Navy, as did my mom. My mother in law wore periwinkle. My flowers were ivory and periwinkle (Queen Anne’s lace, ivory roses, & …. good grief, what was the blue? I’m embarrassed…I’ll have to think) It was only 5 years ago – my goodness! I was married in January – and I’m a white metal girl, so I wanted icy blues, silver, and ivory.

  24. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Ooh that sounds very pretty. Periwinkle is a gorgeous color, almost magical. And goes perfect with silver.

  25. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

thank you! yeah, I was kinda going for grown up winter wonderland. My husband picked January. I do not recommend this – we were lucky, very lucky – it snowed a little just after dawn and then stopped, but it was toooo much stress, on top of everything else to have to worry about a snowstorm!

  26. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

are you planning on wearing a veil?
I like the idea – because it makes it totally bridal, but didn’t want to wear a blusher or have the veil in front of my face, that idea kinda bugged me. I wore my hair (waist length, dirty blonde) in a chignon and had a wisp of a veil on a comb tucked in under the bottom side of the chignon – it came down to maybe mid-thigh-ish…. It was simple, but regal to me.

  27. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Well it sounds like it was VERY pretty and magical, especially with all the snow. But yeah I plan on having a late spring/early summer wedding. We are not too fond of the cold! lol

  28. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

I’m not fond of the cold either – I despise it! We were engaged at Christmas 2002. Out with friends a week later, they asked if we had set a date – I said: no, no, plenty of time for theat – my husband jumped in and said soon! this time next year, I think. uh….I was still getting used to the idea of being engaged, frankly – but that did speak to his commitment to me – that we wouldn’t be engaged in name only – that he really meant it – so, we went off and running on the January 04 plan..

I change my mind, it’s “Barking up the Wrong Tree!!!!” yea! that’s it!!

  30. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Yeah I like that look that you described. I do plan on wearing a veil but not necessarily over my face either, the one I like is called a mantilla, it’s what they traditionally use in Spain, it has a scalloped lace edge all along the border. I wish I could see everyone’s wedding pics, I’ve been scouring all the bridal magazines for about a year now to get a good idea!

Oh wow, we were engaged 3 days before Christmas! He wanted to propose right on Christmas in front of all of our family but he couldn’t wait! He took me out to one of our favorite restaurants and got down on one knee…it was like a scene out of a movie! We both burst into tears and had the whole restaurant crying!! lol

  34. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick

  42. AllureofGemsGlamJulia
    AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:

Ivy, the best of everything to you!

We, Michael and I, were married (in Ex Soviet Union) on December 26th , 29 years ago!

We knew each other only for 7 days before Michael made a proposal and in a month after that we were married.

  43. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

I wore a white gown w/train & a veil w/train (lots of fabric) the dress went straight across at the top of my chest & then the rest was lace, up to my neck & long sleeves!! It came to a point on top of my hand. We married on Janurary the 24th, 1976!!!gees, the 2 bridesmaids wore royal blue (my blue days) the maid of honor wore baby blue. The dresses were simple, straight with a turtle neck, that tied in the back above a large open back!
They wore small white fur headbands with flowers on the side, and carried white fur muffs with flowers on those! I carried a single long stem rose!!!

  44. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Oh wow! What a great love story!! Thank you for sharing, Glam Chick! :)

  45. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Oh how nice, Anita!! :) Thank you for sharing. Kinda sounds like Mary’s wedding too, you guys had the same color scheme and were married in the same month!

  46. AllureofGemsGlamJulia
    AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:

Your dress sounds veyr beautiful Anita!

My gown actually was a two piece (long straight skirt) in very very light pink silk parcha (needdle pointed taf.feta)
    and silk shiffon veil.

  47. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

    wow Glam! what a story!

    too funny, Anita – January 24, 2004!
Mine would have looked like satin strapless – except with a lace overlay of sorts – ballet neck – long sleeves – what do you call it? my mom would know – looked almost like a top and skirt, the way the waist was..

    Ivy,

thank you for sharing your stories of your upcoming wedding, the proposal from your fiancee, the new restaurant and your new jewelry business, love this color combo and the lace mantilla you’re planning to wear!!! thank you Funny, Glam, Smoky and Sweet for all your wedding stories too, so good to read about your various wedding ensembles, choice of time of year etc, gives the rest of us some romance to dream about :)

Nothing so exciting here!! John said it was time to go pick out our rings, we went! Then he said it was time to set a date, we did!! We got married on my fathers birthday, there’s just me the baby & my sister (Renate) who’s 5 years older, so I gave dad a son for his birthday!!

  50. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Well that sounds pretty exciting to me, I bet your father was happy for his little “gift”! lol!

  51. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

Anita – my dad’s b-day was Jan 25th (a month after Christ, as he always joked) – that’s not why we picked the date – and in fact I felt kinda funny with the date considering….(my dad had already been passed 6 years at the time) my family’s tiny and was supportive – they’re the only ones who knew. I had the dj play Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin, at dinner – that was his favorite.

  52. Cuban Queen Crazy Chick
    Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:

Jan 25th is my little brother’s birthday, too

  53. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

Smoky Chick, I think you turned his birthday into something happy!!! After the passing of a loved one, the birthday can be a sad day! My father passed Dec.6,1999, from a freak fall!! He was perfectly healthy!! Now we celebrate our anniversary!!! Not, my dad not being here!!

  54. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

Ivy, Yup, I was his “son” for years. Then we gave him Ryan, a grandson, then his princess Bobbie!!

I really love Julia’s story! Everyone’s stories are great! And if I can put in my 2cents – Larry and I dated for 6 months before getting engaged and were married 6 months later. I think (I’m sure!) we rushed it a bit because my mother kept telling us we were all wrong for each other. We’ll celebrate 28 years on May 2!

  59. KPJEWELS
    KPJEWELS says:

Love this pick, especially the pink and black. The gold sets it off wonderfully.

  60. CAS
    CAS says:

All you married and engaged Chickys, I guess I missed alot today being out and about as a friend of mine would say, what a great conversation. Ivy, I always thought that if I ever got married I’d want my veil to be a mantilla, I think it would be the perfect type for you given your heritage. Is Alicia going to be a flower girl?

  61. AllureofGemsGlamJulia
    AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:

    Oh, my God!!

    I forgot how to count!

My wedding was 38 years ago not 29!Sorry for misleading…
