Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Oh, Lynn it hurts to just hear about it!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 5:07 am #
Lynn in Oz says:Painkillers (and rum) finally kicked in, so it isn’t that bad now
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:01 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:oh my goodness Lynn! I hope you’re feeling better. Although I hate to say it – bu – injuries like that are always worse the next day. Did you need a tetanus shot, too!
Look on the bright side – this is a gorgeous combination of beads!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 7:44 am #
D D Mystic Chick says:ouch!!! hope it’s not hurting so badly still! like the red/green combo!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 8:18 am #
CAS says:Oh Lynn! Poor you, I hope that it’s not so painful now (and is healing okay). Gosh … does this mean you can’t bead right now?
Like Jeanne says it’s a really gorgeous pick. We Chicks will try to keep you from thinking about it too much, and try and keep you busy.
On Jun 22, 2009 at 9:16 am #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:OMG, that sounds horrible! Sorry you had to go through that!
Well it will heal eventually, and in the meantime like you said, keep busy! lol
On Jun 22, 2009 at 9:24 am #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:OH-OH, Hope it does’nt mess with your beading!!! Sorry for your poor little thumb!!! Hope it gets better real SOON…..But, I do love the pick!!!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 9:28 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Oohhhh…I took only one look at your pick and knew what happened!! Anytime a nail is included in a cut, you know it is excruciating!! When I trimmed my fingernail with a slicer a few years back, I was told that if you try to keep the injury up higher than your heart level, the throbbing will ease. Hope you feel better soon and have no complications from it. Great pick BTW, it represents the event to a ‘T’.
On Jun 22, 2009 at 9:52 am #
Chicky Bear-Tara says:Ouch!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:01 pm #
Lynn in Oz says:Thanks guys
I am high on painkillers right now and not thinking 100% straight.
Yes I needed a tetanus shot
And no I can’t bead
I can’t put any pressure on my thumb because it hurts too much.
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:06 pm #
CAS says:Oh Lynn …
… well it shouldn’t interfere with making picks or posting designs. And of course we’ll keep you company.
I’d send you some of my Corn Chowder to make you feel better, but I don’t think it would travel that well … Oh, and Lynn, avoid celery, okay …
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:15 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Yep – just eat the whole stalk – forget the knife! I’m so sorry – I know that had to be awful! Three stitches is still a lot for such a small sensitive area! But thanks for sharing your pain in such a beautiful way…You’re a trooper!!!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:16 pm #
Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Ow, ow!! Ow, ow, ow!!
Gives me the willies just reading your comments.
Belly Chick has a good idea about holding it above your heart level. I’ve tried that with injuries before and it helps a bit.
GET BETTER SOON!!!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:44 pm #
AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Terrible… Sorry about it.
Nails heal sooooooooooo slow.
Your pick is beautiful though.
I have veryyyyy sharp knives but lucky enough I rarely got cuts. Considering my profession it could be a disaster!
I wish you fast recovery:)
On Jun 22, 2009 at 6:53 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oh, Lynn, so sorry to hear about your “boo-boo” (as my granddaughter calls them!). I’m amazed you could create such a gorgeous pick while in such pain! LOL Maybe that’s the secret. Hmmmmmmm Hope you feel better soon & heal quickly!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 7:08 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Lynn, so sorry you are hurt. I am quaking in sympathetic pain right now.
My big one involved me, a box cutter, and some foam board. Had to call my hubby to come home from our office because I couldn’t stop the bleeding long enuf to bandage it. Cut finger tips bleed like a “so and so”.
Fortunately, I missed my nail. I’m so sorry you cut yours.
Really pretty pick, tho!
On Jun 22, 2009 at 10:11 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Lynn in Oz, how’s your thumb? I hope your pain has subsided a bit. Thinking of you!
On Jun 23, 2009 at 2:21 am #
Lynn in Oz says:Pain is better….
Still stings and throbs a little, but it is bearable.
Not looking forward to having the dressing changed tomorrow
On Jun 23, 2009 at 3:15 am #
CAS says:Lynn, if the dressing is sticking when they go to change it, have them dampen it with a little sterile water or saline and it should come off easier.
On Jun 25, 2009 at 8:58 pm #
Lynn in Oz says:To anyone game enough to look- here is a picture of my thumb…
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:03 pm #
CAS says:How’d the dressing change go, Lynn? It doesn’t look too bad, it looks like it’s healing well, no signs of infection. (as an ex-nurse I’ve seen lots lots worse)
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:07 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I am so sorry — again! …that looks like it really hurts.
CAS, I don’t want to see worse.
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:12 pm #
Classy Chick JbyJill says:I’m so sorry to hear about your mishap! I hope it heals quickly, so you can get back to that beading!! Until then….Happy Picking!!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:14 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Same here, Lynn. Take your medicine and take care of your hand. Hoping you heal up very soon.
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:43 pm #
KPJEWELS says:Wow, that was quite a cut. Hope you’re better soon. BTW, nice pick.
On Jun 25, 2009 at 9:57 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Oowww…I can feel that all the way up here in Canada!! It looks like you are probably right-handed so it maybe is a little bit easier to keep from bumping it. Glad to hear it is feeling better; I’ve been wondering how you were doing! Thanks for posting again!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 10:33 pm #
Lynn in Oz says:Dressing change went ok, although the nurse didn’t put much padding on it and everything I could bump it on, I did!
It hurt like a cut snake, so hubby and I redressed it (which is when I took the piccy).
No infection whatsoever
The Drs are happy with how it is healing, so now all I have to do it wait.
On Jun 25, 2009 at 10:42 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:I’m glad there is no sign of infection, that can be really bad. I suppose it really doesn’t matter if a person is left or right-handed, an injury like that would stick out to be bumped…well…like a sore thumb! Sorry, I don’t mean to be flippant about it…I just couldn’t resist!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 10:43 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:BTW, I’ve never heard that saying before…hurt like a cut snake. It’s cute!!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 11:50 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oh, Lynn, I’m sorry it still hurts so badly!!!! I did look at the photo (I’m very brave — LOL) — ouch!!!! Glad it’s healing well. Tell hubby & kids it is most important that you rest a lot, sit at the computer & chat with us, & do fresh picks when able!!! No chores!!!
S-l-o-w-l-y build up your strength to be able to bead again! LOL
Seriously, I do hope you will be feeling better soon! Give Jabari a tummy rub from me!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 11:52 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Well, Elaine, she didn’t say she bled like a stuck pig, and I’ve always thought that to be an odd saying! Perhaps, to a snake, it really hurts to be cut!
On Jun 25, 2009 at 11:58 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Hehehe!!
On Jun 26, 2009 at 12:05 am #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Holy Cats!!! That’s a nasty job you did on yourself Lynn!!! Please take care and don’t let the pain build up before you take the pain meds – takes longer for ‘em to kick in – ALthough guess the rum could speed things along (just for medicinal purposes
…Hope you’re feeling better soon…
On Jun 26, 2009 at 12:17 am #
DOG Chick aka Angela says:Oh you poor baby! I’m so sorry you got hurt so badly. I will say a prayer that God will take the pain away and that you will heal quickly! Big HUGS!
On Jun 26, 2009 at 12:28 am #
Lynn in Oz says:I don’t know where the “hurts like a cut snake” saying comes from… probably just a colloquial aussie thing LOL
Whilst I can’t bead, I am trying to list all my stock on Etsy so I can get rid of it all- it is taking over my craft room. So no time to fresh pick at the moment…. however I want to do something with some lovely new pearls that just came in
So don’t go far
On Jun 26, 2009 at 1:12 am #
CAS says:I’m glad the dressing change went okay, though, you’re absolutely right that padding is important when it’s somewhere you can bump easily.
I like your “hurts like a cut snake” saying, and as far as I’m concerned ALL snakes should be cut (I’m deathly afraid of snakes, icky).
On Jun 27, 2009 at 1:08 pm #
DOG Chick aka Angela says:We are still here Lynn. How is your hand today?
On Jun 27, 2009 at 1:17 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Have no fear, Lynn, we’re not going anywhere! LOL Hope you’re feeling better today!
On Jun 27, 2009 at 11:38 pm #
RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:Well, you created a beautiful pick from a bad situation!! As an ex-nurse, I had to look at the pic, too! Nice stitching job! Thanks for sharing, and I mean that sincerely~
On Jul 21, 2009 at 7:00 pm #
Lynn in Oz says:Hey all, I just wanted to post some updated piccies of my thumb, 4 weeks after…
On Jul 21, 2009 at 7:09 pm #
KPJEWELS says:Thanks for the update, Lynn. It looks pretty good now. Hope it feels a lot better. Are you able to do any beading yet? I suppose it still hurts like mad when you bump it though. Eh?
On Jul 21, 2009 at 7:12 pm #
Little Round Chick says:Love the colors but I never did trust celery.
On Jul 21, 2009 at 7:17 pm #
Lynn in Oz says:I am planning on trying some beading over the weekend. I can put pressure on it and use it now- but yes it really does hurt when I bump it!
On Jul 21, 2009 at 7:43 pm #
CAS says:Nicely healed Lynn! It looks really good, good luck beading this weekend!
Oh, and stay away from celery … lol
On Jul 21, 2009 at 8:07 pm #
D D Mystic Chick says:woooo weeee! you did a job on your thumb! but it looks much better now
good luck beading! better to stay away from that knife, celery itself is pretty harmless
On Jul 22, 2009 at 4:38 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oh, Lynn, thanks for the update and pix! It looks as though your thumb has healed well, but sorry to hear it still hurts when bumped. Maybe it just takes longer for the nerve endings to heal.
Looks like you won’t be wearing nail polish on there anytime soon…..LOL I sure hope you’re right-handed!
Good thing hubby is the chef at your house — stay away from those knives!!! Now, back to beading (but no stringing, still ROTFLOL over your comment about that!)!
