Very pretty dreams, too! Someone said that the Rainbow Rhodonite was more pink than pictured – if that’s the case, I think I’d really like them! I have a lot of pink, but don’t seem to really use it much – how ‘silly’ of me! Oh, and I absolutely love the toggle!

It is a bit more pink than it appears… I bought some along with those georgous pearls I recently bought. What can I say, I’ve got the need for beads!

I’m right there with you! Although I wish I could summon the motivation to do as muich beading as I do bead buying! How do you motivate yourself to sit down and design?

Well, I think I do a lot of beading in spurts. I use a beading tray, and and play, kind of like a pick, with the different colors…then I keep a journal on the desk… and often do little quick draws of the image id like to make. Then when I am in a beading mood, I have some ideas for color, texture & design.. I always look at other peoples jewelry, too. If I see something I like, I think about how I can adapt it to fit my mood or materials.
Also, I have a ‘mini book’ with pictures from catalogues… and I use them for inspiration. I try to never duplicate what I make, so I am always looking to try new things.

I have to update my website for July tomorrow, and I have a lot of new pictures of jewelry to post. I think I may post one or two things in the gallery here as well.

Great pick, Bubbly! Yes, please post pics! I’d love to see them! I just got some of the rainbow rhodonite about a week ago but haven’t decided what to do with it yet.

Beautiful pick, Lorrie! :D Such lovely colors!

Shannon, the rhodonite w/pyrite is pinker than it appears in the photo. On my screen it appears peachy. I like the fact that it really is pinker! :D

Thanks for the suggestions Bubbly – I keep lots of catalogue photos as well, but rarely have the same components – if something inspires a thought, I’ll go with that but I’m always conscious of not doing copies unless it’s just for myself. I like the journal idea although I’m not much in the drawing dept…

Hi Lynn and Chicky D – Hope you’re both well today!!

Silly Chick, you dont have to be able to draw-to keep a journal, you could just write down color bead combos- I want to try pink & green or I love this_______insert here_______ so I could try to use it w/ this, or my favorite when I am clueless is something I call bead soup. I take a bunch of a color (say blue) in different shapes, sizes, color variations, & textures, and mix them up….. then decide do I want a single strand, or a double, or maybe a necklace combo. I am definatly not an artist, I only sketch well enough to show, say 2 strand bracelet, 7 inch, twist, or reverse colors, ect…. :)

Hi Bubbly, your drawings sound a lot better than mine. I can’t even draw a stickman properly. LOL I usually just think of what colour I would like to use and go from there. Last night I went to bed and couldn’t sleep well and it is the first time I have come up with some design ideas that weren’t a spur of the moment design. I’m not an artist or a pro at this. He, he.

Oh, Evelyn, I am very certain that you are better than you give yourself credit for! I have no doubt that you make some awesome jewelry!!! Your picks alway have such vibrant colors and such a pretty playfullness to them!!! :D

Thanks Bubbly, I left a note on the garden for you BTW. I have made a lot of changes to the way I was beading before I went into hospital. When I came out the second time around, I had no desire to do any beading but now I’m teaching my daughter and I’m also back to beading myself. I love bright colours.

Great suggestions Bubbly! I’ve got to try harder to work at my design and beading skills!

Hi, Shannon, I had a great day to day. Went house hunting this evening, hoping to find something soon.
