Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I remember shelling a lot of black eyed peas while growing up in farm country. But they sure were good!!!
Very pretty fresh green pick…makes me want to visit the farmer’s market.

Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:Ohhh, Little Chick, what a great pick and I do feel for you. I remember shellin peas when I was a kid and no its not fun.
If only it were beads instead, would make it so much easier to deal with.

Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Thanks girls!!!!!! Oh yeah! I’d love to spend hours shelling beads!!!!

Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:Totally agree with you there. I can spend hours just sorting out beads and reorganizing them and putting them together to see what goes good with others. If peas were wishes, we’d be rich. LOL
But as Happy Chick said, black eyes peas fresh from shellin are so very good.

Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Thanks Julia & Leigh!!!!! Oh definitely…I can just see all those pea pods filled with beautiful gemstones & pearls!!!!!!!!! Hmmm, well I’ve never had black eyed peas before!

Chicky Bear-Tara says:I wouldn’t have very many peas after I shelled. I love to eat raw sweet peas. Yummy pick!

ChickyD aka Debra says:Great pick!
I spent many a happy hour as a child shelling black eyed peas. I love ‘em. Here’s one of my favorite summertime dinners: meatloaf, black eyed peas, and okra…Mmmmm Mmmmmmm GOOD! Country food!

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Little Chick, sorry you had to shell all those peas, but I’m glad it inspired such a fun and pretty green pick from you! Of course, you can probably see green in your sleep right now! LOL
Wouldn’t it be great to be shelling for beads instead of peas? Boy, we would sure open up those pods in record time!!!
Debra, I’m going to have to stop by your home for dinner some night — sounds delicious!

KPJEWELS says:Great pick, Nicole. I used to shell peas by the basketfull when I was your age also, but I didn’t mind it. We had a huge field of turnip and one of potatoes that had to be dug also. My dad worked shift work and there weren’t any boys in our family, so guess who did all the farmwork? LOL.
