Smoky Rose says:looks delicious!
I was gonna crash – but I still need to unwind a bit.

ChickyD aka Debra says:Thanks! I made some today. The strawberries seem to be especially tasty this year. You know, sometimes they LOOK really good but taste like nothing.
I’m unwinding with a glass of red.

Smoky Rose says:did you? wow – do you have local strawberries already?
I’m not a baker – but that’s so good, it would be worth doin’
mmmmmm, glass of wine sounds perfect!

ChickyD aka Debra says:They’re from a bit further south than me. It’s basically summer here in central Texas. Tomorrow will be in the upper 70′s (below normal), but the rest of the week is expected to be in the 90′s with a nice, healthy dose of humidity. Bummer.
I use a mix for the angel food cake. I did make REAL whipped cream, though.
Oh, the wine is great.

Smoky Rose says:I haven’t gone to grab my wine yet – talkin’
our strawberries aren’t ready here till June. blueberries in July.

Smoky Rose says:humidity? we have gross humidity! nobody believes we have it here till they experience it – thank goodness for Bare Escentuals primer + mineral veil! Cuts the oil big, big time

J Yee smart chick says:southern chick,
LOVE the yummy scrumptious pinks, reds and creams, makes me wish for some right now!!!!!
On May 04, 2009 at 12:49 am #
J Yee smart chick says:you both have my sympathies w/ the humid hot weather… I remember living in northwest florida w/ all the humidity there…
believe it or not the pacific northwest also has relatively high humidity so when it’s cold and drizzly here the cold seems to penetrate thru deeply… unlike a place such as Colorado where the humidity is lower…

Smoky Rose says:but on your nice days, your humidity is most comfortable. one thing I can say for the humidity + oily skin, I think they protect a little against wrinkles. Something good for something bad.
On May 04, 2009 at 12:53 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I love this pick & strawberries — with or without the shortcake!
I am SO not a hot weather/humidity gal.
Smoky Rose — Are you a BE gal, too?!?! Love it!

Smoky Rose says:Joyce, I was there in September, while Seattlites were enjoying perfect weather – then a cool, misty day, like you’re describing. I could not put on enough clothes to warm up – you’re right about the chill going right thru you.
On May 04, 2009 at 12:54 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I agree about the oily skin = no wrinkles. Glad to know it is worth something!

Smoky Rose says:ballpark, where are you at LE?
On May 04, 2009 at 12:57 am #
J Yee smart chick says:agree about the humidity – I’m not a huge fan of humidity and heat combined, I do enjoy the days that we do have pleasant weather, you do have to make sure to take some layers to cover up even when it seems to be really comfortable outside cuz’ of that chilly undertone…
good to know that there’s SOME benefits to high humidity, ie skin!!!!

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I live in Indiana.
On May 04, 2009 at 1:00 am #
Smoky Rose says:Indiana – Thank you. I grew up outside Chicago, now outside Philly.
humidity + hair isn’t a good match though…..
On May 04, 2009 at 1:04 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I love Chicago! My husband is from Wisconsin, so we travel through there a lot, and we have been there a lot for short trips. So many fun things to do!
My parents are both from just outside of Pittsburg, although they live in Indiana now.
Luckily, I have straight hair so the humidity doesn’t affect it.

Smoky Rose says:we used to vaca in Wisconsin when I was little – forgive the spelling, Kenosha? and Baraboo? I had an uncle (now deceased) who was Cardinal of Green Bay.
Mine’s straight too – long and straight – we’re luckier than most, I’d guess – just those pesky fly aways
On May 04, 2009 at 1:08 am #
Smoky Rose says:I hate to leave yas! this was a good laughs!
Thank you for that!
G’Nite!
On May 04, 2009 at 1:09 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Wisconsin is a pretty state to vacation in. Lots of nice scenery, the Dells, etc.
So true about those fly-aways! Mine is short & I still get them!
On May 04, 2009 at 1:10 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Good night, Mary! Thanks for the laughs!
Happy beading dreams!
