“Stray Kitten Pile”

Description from Leigh D: The complex where I live has alot of stray cats. Yesterday morning when I awoke I heard meowing. I looked out my peephole and there on our second floor landing was a pile of kittens. Momma cat had apparently thought that this was a safe place to stash her babies. She visited and fed them periodically throughout the day. Eventually the ones that could make it down the stairs on their own did so and momma carried the others that could not. There were four kittens all together - one solid black, 2 with the exact coloring of the birch jasper, and one black and white. All 4 had the most gorgeous deep blue eyes!

Leigh D says:I guess I ought to tell the second scary part of the story – It ends well – one of the kittens fell in an open drainage pipe that was full of water – My husband found him when he went outside because he was crying so loud. We took towels and dried him off and then ran and extension cord outside with our heating pad – put a whole bunch of towels on it and placed the kitties on top – the dry ones scampered off after momma after awhile and the damp one stayed there for a longer period of time. The hubs and I checked on him for about an hour and a half (about every 15 min or so) and he had dried off and was sound asleep. I went out again around 8pm last night and momma had come and gotten him. But at least we found him and were able to save him – It was very cold here last night and both of us were worried that if he didnt warm up he wouldn’t have made it.
