“Tai Chi”

Description from Little Round Chick: Tai Chi is a martial art that on the surface appears to be a series of graceful movements. Many think of it as moving meditation. It is all of this and more. At the very core is a martial art that as powerful as any of the more obvious combat styles.

I studied Tai Chi for almost 10 years and while I never became proficient in the fight applications I found it was a great way to clear the mind of all of life's worries at least for a short while. It is a martial art filled with beauty and deception.

LRC! We have little bit in common! I used to teach Tai Chi Chuan years ago! I have to say I’ve let the practice slide soon after I stopped teaching. It has forever changed my everyday movements though, such as bending over, picking up items and something as simple as turning around. I never delved too far into the fight applications either. It is beautiful to watch!!

Nice pick but I am in love with Tai Chi. I could just sit and watch it. I wanted to take the course at the YMCA but they discontinued it. I do have a dvd and book but it’s not the same without someone telling you if you are doing it correctly. There was a guy who did his routine daily in the park next to my office. I loved to watch him – it always calmed me down. Well, I’m not going to mention he was about 28 yrs old and did it without his shirt on……………

I didn’t read all this but when they told me I had fibromyalgia they sugested I find a place that taught Tai Chi. I would have to go to Gainesville and that is too far. I bought a book and there was a program on tv for a while but we no longer get that channel darn. Pretty pick.

    Nancy, I taught Chen style.
Actually got to take a class from Master Chen one weekend! Talk about intimidating! A very gentle man but the energy that flowed from him was powerful!
I think he had eyes in the back of his head too. There were a lot of people in the class but he saw EVERYTHING! And he would correct the tiniest inconsistency in form or position! Gently of course!
