Description from Blooming Ideas: Not all of the Focal agates will be like this one which looks like a foamy wave as it recedes from the beach. With the BP oil spill and the very recent Hurricane Issac churning up the settled oil deposits from the ocean floor. These are some of my thoughts behind this pick. My heart goes out to the environment and the people of that region.

KATHERINE T says:Hey, I’m the first to comment. I agree that humans are ruining the Earth. Gods wonderful gift to us and all we are worried about is ourselves. I love the ocean and I can’t wait for it all to be the way it was originally intended.
Beautiful pick too. I love the agate. Lima really supplies us with some great stuff!

Crazy Beader says:Your concern is very touching and your pick is elegant. Especially like the silver moonstone with the smoky banded agate. A lovely pick to remind us of not such a pretty scene – - -

Julie Shane says:If you’ve never been on a tar beach: It’s SO unsettling and depressing. The tar literally balls up in the water. Then the waves bring hundreds/thousands of the little black balls and dump them on the shore line. It’s dirty and dark… and there’s nowhere safe to walk. Then you think about the ocean and it’s life trying to avoid that stuff.
Thanks for your reminder to protect our waters and our sea life.

Julie Shane says:Sorry everyone. I didn’t mean to be such a downer. This just brought out some really sad memories. I’ve been living on the east coast of Florida since 1972. We’ve had some nasty stuff. The Gulf Coast has been affected so much more. The Keys and the Caribbean are also affected. SO unsettling.

Blooming Ideas says:Thank You all for the kind comments. Didn’t mean to be a downer either, ladies.
I have similar memories J Shane. Growing up we visited my Grandmother each summer. What did we use….turpentine or mineral spirits to get the tar gunk off. Then I lived on the east coast of Florida for nearly 20 years. So I can only multiply my experiences and I might come close to what they have had to go through.
