You know when you take a bunch of different beads and dump them in a bowl, and then just run your fingers through them?
This pick makes me want to do that!! :-D

    ‘Texture’ – excellent title!
I can ‘feel’ the beads! ;-)

Thank you all for your sweet comments. I wish I had the energy to write to each and every one of you, but I am BEAT! We have split K, meaning half came today for testing and the other half will come tomorrow.Thursday will be with all 18. Fortunately, no tears! A major miracle! And I got all 10 tested individually. That dumb test is 7 pages long! I have a couple of little guys that I need a translator for (no they are supposed to be speaking English, but it is soooo garbled, I can’t catch a single word of it! Verbally developmentally delayed says the speech therapist. Talk to you soon.
What is UP with the cost of that Suibuichi stuff! Those little nests are $20.00!?!?! Good grief! Glad to help y’all out with the clasp. I still can’t afford it, though!

Congrats on your great POD! I did order that coffeee bean jasper, and I love it. :-)

  29. Valentine Chick
    Valentine Chick says:

congrats and best wishes for a great school year! Our K here has 21-22 kids in each class?!? Does that make sense to you?

  30. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

No Valentine chick 21-22 kids in K is obsene! We’ve worked so hard to raise scores, and now the tests will drop due to too many kids in too little spaces!

    Congrats on POD Donna!
and congrats on getting your testing done! and no criers! What assessment do you use?
    18 is a manageable for K

Just got my class list – I’m happy with 21 this year. But I think I do have the crier from last year…. all year! many visits with the psychologist. Oh well – we’ll see in two weeks.

Jen – do you teach too?

  33. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

Jeanne, 21 1st graders..That’s a bit rough, if you didn’t have your assistant. My assistant is full time this year and is supposed to stay with me and the kids. She keeps trying to tell me what to do and duck out of the room! I’ve got to put my foot down on her asap! Please pray for me and wisdom to handle this situation.

  34. No Photo
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:

Last year I had an impossible 24, so this will be an improvement. I’m not sure if we’re losing ta’s for part of the day or not. I hope not. Do you have a new assistant this year. You will have to set guidelines fast. Good luck!

  35. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

No Jeanne, I had her last year when I was new to the system and she feels like the previous young teacher hung the moon and I still need to be told what to do. My husband, Randy, came in last Friday to hang my curtains, and he made the comment that she certainly was bossy. Who is the teacher anyway. Well, she is so good with organization and dealing with the kids, that I really need to do something about my own attitude as well. Talk soon,
I have to go to bed before I fall out of the computer chair! Have a great tomorrow!

  36. No Photo
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:

    ohhhhh –
but your husband is right – you are the teacher and you are the one who should set the tone of the class. Lots of luck! Have fun with the little ones! :D
    good night!

  37. Valentine Chick
    Valentine Chick says:

Yes good luck with that one Southern Chick!! :( What is an assistant anyway? Never heard of such a thing. The kids are ours totally all day unless you have a TSS worker. Who wants one of those with the behavior problem to go with it? Yes, I am a second grade teacher with 22 kids, while most districts around us have 15-17. We have NEVER had any kind of assistant. Our board would never hear of making a teacher’s workload a little lighter. :( Best wishes girls for a positive school year!
