Frida you used lucite flowers!!! They are gorgeous aren’t they? As fas making the store a success. There are blogs about how tondeive traffic to your site. I have skimmed some. I know you canpay extra so one of your products comes up in the handpicked menu visible when you enter the site. Also apparently there is something availble to tie in your facebook shop page also.. I don’t.really know much else except probably better photos.which we all need, materials list.actually in the description. Anybody else??

Hi Frida! I love this gorgeous pick! Those Lucite flowers are to die for! Thank you so much for being the driving force behind The Chickies’ Jewelry, and in getting Dix her wheels. I was so depressed over her condition, I wans’t able to get things going on my own. Without you, she wouldn’t have this loaner cart. I DO wish she had her very own wheels, but this cart seems brand new, never used….still don’t know if it will work for her…it may not. We shall see.

As for Etsy, I DID activate this “impression” thing. You pay a fee for shop items to be “imoressed” when people type in certain search words. The search words are determined by Etsy depending on the item description. I started it maybe 2 weeks ago, and I don’t think it makes much difference. Perhaps we should put the website address in our profiles? And go thru word of mouth? Do we link the shop to Facebook? That IS a possibilty….
Remember…there are 3.7 MILLION jewelry listings on Etsy. How do we stand out?

I have mentioned it on my facebook but I started a new page so not many friends yet. I know it takes awhile to build a customer base on etsy. I do think all.our photos need work. I’m going to get my digital camera out to take new ones and upload at my Mom’s. It will be in a week I guess.

I have been spending (too much) time browsing on etsy. I have seen some of the items come up.
Here’s what I’ve noticed aobut etsy jewelry: The titles are usually quite long because they have all the “key” words in them. When we post for each other in Design Gallery, we already “know” what’s in the item. For shoppers to “hit” our items, the title needs to include the type of gemstone and/or pearl and/or silver… patina… Vintaj… etc. The titles on maqny etsy products are obnoxious, but it does get attention when the shopper is looking for certain stones or types or styles.

I’m rambling. But I think you know what I mean. Hopefully Susie, all you have to do is edit the titles and leave the descriptions and pics as they are. Right??? :)

  5. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

btw: This etsy thing has been my curse. I’m now shopping all over the place. And BUYING!!! :( But finding absolutely fantastic stuff!!!
Some of the search terms I have personally used: lampwork, ceramic, Vintaj, pewter, wire work, raku, etc…

  6. Anna C WonderChick
    Anna C WonderChick says:

I just pinned a few of the items to my Pinterest page, with the link to the items on etsy. I don’t have many followers on Pinterest, but it can not hurt. I agree Julie, I can browse on etsy forever….. :)

  7. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Oh good idea about Pinterest. I have about 60.followers vut.I’m in a network of mostly beaders and jewelry artist because of the boards I follow.

  8. Anna C WonderChick
    Anna C WonderChick says:

Deb maybe some of your followers can like some of the Chickies items and thus spread the fun. I have a few followers with food/wine, travel, photography, etc as their main board “thing/s” so maybe the networking will work.

  9. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

I HAVE noticed that some items DO have really long titles….Thing is, if you are using key words for each item, as I do, is it necesary to have such long titles? The keywords are supposed to help direct traffic to the item…

  10. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Has anyone conjured up word to explain to buyers why this shop exists? Usually when people know its to raise money for a worthy cause, they buy there instead of elsewhere.

A friend of mine was going to donate a piece but she kept waiting to see something describing the purpose of the shop; i.e. to raise money for a sick animal.

  11. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Oh one other thing Susie. I found I get more traffic when I just bump up a few items every day than when I pay for ads.

  12. Asia
    Asia says:

Nancy might be on something, as for the social media, I’m not on it, due to many reasons, but also not enough time, so I can’t help with that, never sold anything in my life, so I don’t know the strategies how to attract the buyer. Let’s hope that we will get some ideas from other people !

  13. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

Thank you for the inputs and lovely comments about the pick ;)

I got one thought how is it, if one write under a specific item that the money goes in this case to wheels for a dog? Moreover I think the shop need more items. Also I think we need to present ourselfs better. Maybe have a sale or something.
I’m gonna cansel my facebook account, the most of you know partly why.
You all have some great suggestions and actions!!

  14. Asia
    Asia says:

We definitely need to state the reason for this shop, but how is Etsy about that?

  15. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

So I went on Pinterest and made a special board just for The Chickies Jewelry and pinned every item for sale to that board. I also liked the shop on Facebook and then every item in the shop. Further info…a lot of people with Etsy shop also have a business Facebook page. It lists all the same jewelry, they advertise their Etsy page and visa versa. Susie should post a link to the.shop on her.profile here.
Asia I have no idea about Etsy’s view on that. Since it is tecnically Susie’s shop can they say anything if she states she is trying to pay for Miss Dixie’s cart. Its not like we are asking for donations. I’m not sure about the legalities involved here.

  16. Eeka Mouse
    Eeka Mouse says:

Having a picture of Miss Dix would be helpful.

  17. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

I think all the suggestions are really good. I had been thinking of a Facebook page, just hadn’t created it. I don’t do the social networking thing, so I don’t know much about it. Definately need more items with better pics. Right now I don’t have a working computer at home, nor do I have new inventory…so I’m not much help at the moment. Also, do we try to have similar backgrounds when photographing our pieces, so the site appears more harmonious?

I can add the site to my LB profile easily enpugh. Should anyone who has an item in the shop also post the site in their profile?

What do you guys want to do if the loaner cart fits Dix and she’s able to use it? The loaner is essentially free…even though having her own cart would be nice…

Where would I put a pic of Dix? She’s in th avatar.

Still not sure about saying funds go for a cart at this point…I think the main issue is directing traffic to Chickies’ Jewelry.

  18. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

Susie, is the loaner-cart for life?

Deb, yes surprisingly I used lucite in this pick, acctually that new lucite looks tempting. ;)

    Beautiful pick! :)

  20. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

The loaner cart is “for as long as it’s needed.” We don’t know yet if the cart fits or if she’ll be able to use it. (It’s a bit heavy)

  21. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

Hopefully everything works out to the best :)

    Now sleeptime! Night night!

  22. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

Nighty nite, Frida! Sleep well, my friend.

  23. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

I still think we need to mention that the shop is raising money for a sick animal. And when that project is over, I’m sure another will take its place.

If you go to ApacheMoon and PointyPaws, both Etsy shops, you’ll see that the proceeds of all sales go to supporting a shelter for animals. She has been doing this for a long time.

It is perfectly legal. The purple can be written as it describes the purpose. Susie you don’t have to say its for your dog just that its to raise money for a sick animal. You can take it further to explain about the cart and how much it costs. There is nothing illegal about that.

  24. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

    I agree with Nancy :)

As i asked above, about mention in-under each item where the money goes too…. To clarify my thoughts was if one could have charity and profit in same shop. However, one might go with two shops instead so not confuse stuff…

The thing is (I think) is if we make Chickies Jewelry to “pop out” we draw attention to what we do :)

Nancy and the other girls (might inclued me soon) should also mention in the shop that they have another one on etsy. Actually I think that is one of the rules!!!

    HUgs to y’ll :D

  25. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

OK. I added the shop to my profile. A friend of mine showed me how to add a business to Google search, and I think thet IS a good way to go. Using the image search and keyword search would be great. Unfortunately, my 2 home computers are on the fritz, so I have no way to add images at this point. Hopefully my laptop will be reparied soon, and I’ll be able to get back online. Right now I’m using my phone and tablet, and it’s just plain harder that way.

IF the loaner cart works for Dix, what direction do we want to take the shop? For profit? Charitable? 50/50?

    What do you think?

  26. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Look at “Info and Appearance” – there you can include information about the purpose and mission of the shop. You need to include something in there.

Has anyone heard of someone with a need such as something for a pet or a child? There’s a shop on Etsy specifically for a child name Abby who has Autism.

I’ll go look up the name of the shop so you can take a look at how she sells her artwork as artwork, as greeting cards and makes dog biscuits. She has a little beagle. The Chickies shop could make donations to shops like Abby’s. Or help people or pets we hear about.

If you go to Apachemoon.etsy, com you’ll see how she’s described the mission of her shop to use all proceeds to care for rescued animals. She belongs to a team of people who do the same thing.

  27. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Sorry I just checked and on “AidforAbby” on Etsy, she just explains the mission in her profile. I guess folks do it differently from one shop to the other. Don’t know why.

I just bought more dog bones for my Teddy from AidforAbby.etsy.com .
