Description from Chicky Red-haired Grammy: Our local pub, The Grapes, has recently been purchased by several men, including its neighbour but one, Sir Ian McKellan. Since 1539 a pub has been located on the site; the current building was built in 1720. Charles Dickens was a frequent visitor, even putting it in his book "Our Mutual Friend", although the pub in the book is "Six Jollyship Fellow Porters"
