“The Raven”

Description from Julie Shane: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore...
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December...
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor...
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore -- sorrow for the lost Lenore -- Nameless here for evermore...
This it is and nothing more...
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!"

Wow! This is a wonderful illustration of Edgar Allen Poe’s immortal poem. A graveyard at midnight of the winter solstice always comes into my mind upon hearing this poem. Thank you for this beautiful pick!

Dramatic with great lyrics, nothing better then Poe to put you in the dark mood :)

I am *not* a fan of Halloween. Instead of princesses and cowboys and trick-or-treating, it has become a commercialized holiday for dark and creepy stuff.

So… as a literature teacher, Poe’s poem is my fave. My students love it every year. Yes, it has just enough dark and creepy for Halloween fun.
