Really cool pick! When we restored our house in Indiana (1886), we used something called Anagalypta (probably GROSSLY misspelled) on the ceiling. It’s an embossed wallpaper they used to use to imitate a tin ceiling. You apply it to the ceiling and paint it. Your pick reminds me of it tremendously.

Thanks Debra. I’ve always loved the filigree look on the ceilings. The whole look to me is very Marrakashis style I guess you could say. LOL The wallpaper sounds like it would be fun to work with. How difficult was it to put up?

Great pick! Last week I went to a shop and saw some interesting tin pieces. One was a full size mirror with the frame made of tin about 12″ size squares. It was antiqued in cream and was a great wow piece. Also they had picture frames made out of small tin squares. The last item was a two foot tin square with a square cut out of the center with the edges rolled back to reveal a picture within. They were great!!!

Thanks Leslie. I can imagaine they were very pretty. Would love to get a hold of some pieces like that. Filigree to me has such a feminine feeling to it.

Why don’t you make some? I’m sure renovation supply stores have some new tin tiles that can be antiqued any color you want.

Yeah, I kind of had that thought in my mind. Maybe someday when my life settles down a little more and I have more room to work. Would be fun to see what I can do with something like that. Great idea about the supply stores. Thanks.

Chicky Chicky, I love this pick! Tin ceilings are gorgeous and this looks just like one! Love Debra and Leslie’s ideas, too! That is something I love about this site — the sharing of ideas and tips, not just about beading, but about anything — from recipes to decorating! :D

What a GREAT idea for a pick!! I love tin ceilings. We used to have one in almost mint condition at the old restaurant. You know, a necklace made entirely out of filigree pieces is not a bad idea! ;)

I really love this! Tin ceilings are beautiful, and I always wanted to live in a home where I could have one. A tavern that I used to manage had one, and it was my favorite part of the building!
