Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Oh Sue, I’m SO sorry. Tears… Had she been ill? Even if she had been, it doesn’t make it any easier. Bless your heart, this is beautiful. You will be in my prayers.
Hugs, Lori

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Thanks so much, Lori. She was having heart problems, but was dealing with them. Then she had a massive heart attack when she was getting up to put on her robe. The aide found her, rushed her to the hospital, but the docs said she had been without oxygen too long and sustained brain damage. She had a DNR, so they had to take her off life support, and she was gone in about 10 minutes. I wish I could have been there…

Brenda H says:Sue, I’m so sorry about your Mom. You’re never ready for that phone call. My thoughts and prayers are with you. And you’re pick is beautiful, as I’m sure Ester Mae was!!!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 2:38 am #
Vampire Chickie Ravin says:In my faves Sue. My mom, who was in fact Leslie Sue
was like your mom, not afraid of death, she’d had heart issues for a long time. I wish I could have been there with mine too, but you know, she told everyone it was routine surgery, even my step dad. She went into the surgery KNOWING she wasn’t coming back out. Her way of trying to protect everyone else I guess. I think our moms’d probably have gotten along really well, lol.

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Sue, I did get your e-mail and your message last night — I’ll write more there.
Sue, this is such a beautiful pick to honor your mother. Bob’s and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We always said our moms should meet and get together for lunch — maybe they are doing that in Heaven.
My mom’s name was Ruth Elizabeth. Believe it or not, I have started to have happy memories without tears……you will too, my dearest friend. God’s blessings to you!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 2:57 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Thank you for all your support and kind words.
Brenda, trust me, I was definitely not expecting the call – I was playing bridge with some friends. Couldn’t even tell you if I was winning. I wasn’t ready to tell anyone about it, so I just went on playing – didn’t want to get the group down, if you know what I mean.
Ravin, your mom sounds a lot like mine – she wouldn’t want to worry anyone.
Lynn, I’ll call my mom and tell her to meet your mom for lunch – hopefully, they won’t tell any embarrassing stories about us! It’s good to know they are at peace. I’m glad you can finally have happy memories without tears – I’m sure your mom would be relieved to know that.
It’s hard to think I’m an orphan now…

Vampire Chickie Ravin says:Add my mom into that mix Sue….erm…on the other hand…my mom is a “jewish” mom….she WILL, beyond a shadow of a doubt, tell ALL my embarassing stories, of which there are far too many to count!!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 3:06 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Ravin, it’s a good thing we can’t hear their lunch conversations then! We’d probably faint from embarrassment!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 3:10 am #
Vampire Chickie Ravin says:Don’t I know it! The one where I gave myself a mohawk with my dads electric razor, then dyed it with blue food coloring, which made it teal green since I was a natural blond takes the cake. I was 7 years old and had seen Wendy O’Williams and The Plamatics, and Blondie, on tv, back to back….ROTFLOL
On Jan 29, 2010 at 3:11 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I think moms are legally obligated to embarrass their children…..LOL…..hope they are having a great time talking about the 3 of us!!!
Bob has lost both of his parents, too, and he said losing the second one is a very different feeling.
On Jan 29, 2010 at 3:30 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Ravin, that’s quite a picture you’ve painted! Too funny!
Lynn, they’re probably looking over our shoulders as we type – and I’m sure we’re just encouraging their stories! Bob is so right – losing the second parent is a very different feeling – we’re now the next ones to go – feeling our mortality now.
Ladies, it’s time for this Chicky to hit the sack! It’s been fun! Sweet dreams to you!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 3:33 am #
Vampire Chickie Ravin says:Sleep sweet Sue! Chicky Hugs to you, and thank you again for all the sound advice!!

You and your family will be in my prayers.
Peace and Blessings to you. And hugs too.
May I add my mother to the ladies luncheon in heaven? I lost my birth mother when I was 2. Although I don’t remember her, I feel I know her in my heart. I’m willing to bet she knows more about me and my embarressing moments since she could see EVERYTHING from her heavenly home! (Even the things I hid from my Dad!
)
Take care Chicky Sue!

LOL Do you realize it makes US the older generation in our respective families?
Btw. This is a lovely pick to commemorate your mom.

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Oh my goodness, you all are bringing tears to my eyes – you are all so special to me!
Sounds like we have quite a hen party in heaven – wonder whose mom is speaking the loudest “Well, MY daughter did….”.
In answer to a question, yes, these were my mom’s favorite colors. And I sent angels to watch over her!
On Jan 29, 2010 at 11:52 am #

Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Sue, it sounds as though there wasn’t any suffering for her, though the circumstances didn’t make it easier for you. I understand your wish to be there, and it’s a shame you couldn’t be. Please don’t think of yourself as an orphan, the love of your parents will always be there. Every once in a while I will feel my dad’s influence in my life all the way from Heaven. I am keeping you in my prayers.
Many hugs, Lori

Faithful Chick aka Faith says:Sue, this is a lovely tribute to your mother. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Our bodies are a temple given to us to use during our short time on earth. The spirit, our soul, is a wonderous thing set free upon our passing.
Set free to live on in the heavens with the sweet angels. Please find comfort in knowing when our souls move on; we find ourselves without pain and at peace. We shall all then know true happiness.
