“Transition Red”

Description from Granny Nancy: I'm always curious to know the "color of the year" and am now checking out various sites to learn what 2015's color will be. I will miss orchid but will enjoy it as long as I can. I heard red referred to as a good transition color into Fall.

Nancy! This is drop-dead gorgeous! If you wear this and carry Teddy, you will have the perfect transition accessories into fall … into my faves before I even wrote this … I love this pick! Thank you for the coming color tip, my friend.

Nancy, you’re on top of the Fall trend. The Pantone fall fashion report has Aurora Red, which looks like the Grace Kalera or the C-Koop enameled leaf. Radiant Orchid is still on the list, along with Mauve Mist.

Yay for Aurora Red. I was at that page but skipped on by looking for the 2015 report but I guess its too soon. I’ve seen a lot of red already on TV. Thanks for the heads up on the technical color name. I also love that royal blue is big for fall as well. I love jewel tones.

Great selection of reds here–wonderful pick. I went out shopping today and thought I’d get some new red lipstick (I wanted something more shear so I could tone it down a little. Since I’m getting older, I don’t want my lips to enter the room before I do.) I found a lot of red, but not many in a shear color. If anyone know a good brand let me know! I’ll just keep looking.

Amazing pick – I love red for its boldness. They always say it’s a “power color” (hence the color for ties in so many presidential debates), and I certainly think it projects confidence. I especially like the kalera and Irish linen – this has my vote for a POD!

Judy, I’m not the best person to comment because I actually rarely wear lipstick, but I like two brands at opposite ends of the price spectrum for reds: Revlon Colorstay and Lancome.

(I should note that the Colorstay isn’t sheer, it just has deep reds that are a little toned down.)

At my age I only wear very light colors – usually light apricot if I can find it. I used to put dark lipsticks on first – but lightly – blot it – then put a lighter color on top. The two colors would blend. The lighter color has to be almost a flesh color.
