“Trying Desperately to Smile”

Description from puppychick labratbecky: I had to work with one bossy nemesis over the weekend and the other today. I am so stressed out by trying to remain cordial. :) This is my gritted teeth smiling.

Becky, I’m sorry you’ve had tough days at work. You should just play with your beads, not necessarily making anything, just fondling. ;)
Fabulous pick! Love the chocolate and dragonfruit together.

  2. Asia
    Asia says:

Becky, I feel your frustration, have couple of those myself, they make your life and their own unpleasant!!!

  3. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

Becky, I feel you! I have decided I desrve to be happy at work, and hope to have a new job in a few weeks.
Love the pinks and the chocolates!

    KATHERINE T says:

At least you had the strength to smile. It’s easier to be rude than to keep yourself from blowing up. You are the better person. P.S. i like your pic and I can see your teeth!

  5. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Gritting ones teeth can be harmful to your teeth :o ) I hope you are being facetious. However, it resulted in a very clever pick. I love how you paired pinks and browns/beiges.

Thanks, chickies! :-D I know those 2 people are miserable themselves. I am afraid to stick up for myself because I am so angry I might just go nuclear. I know I have whined about these 2 considerably before and I am sorry to bother you with it but picks like this, just getting on line here, and ALL OF YOU are so good for my psyche after days like this. Thanks for the inexpensive but oh so effective therapy!!! xoxo!

Hold on Becky, and know that you ARE the better person!
This is a fabulous pick, and like Katherine,I see the teeth in your pick ! ;)

  8. OK Jacki
    OK Jacki says:

Just smile – it’ll make them crazy wondering what u r up to. Fun pick even if its created from frustration. When work seems crazy/miserable etc., i propose to move to the mountains & grow blueberries. But, alas, i like to be close to Sonic Drive Ins (for best iced tea) & indoor plumbing….so, it’s back to the grind. Hang in there, my friend. Hugs!!

    Laud says:

Wear your anger management necklace–and stick out your tongue at them! Seriously, I hope today is better than yesterday.

Becky, your pick is delightful & pretty — unlike your cranky co-workers. Sure hope things are better today. Just remember — we’re always here to support you! Hugs! :D

    Chicky Red-haired Grammy says:

Silly idea – practice saying what you would like to say to your co-workers in front of a mirror until you are comfortable with what you will communicate to them in a pleasant manner. Might be totally impossible to be pleasant to these folks, tho. Good luck and I hope today was a better day. This is a pretty pick.

Hang in there, Becky – - and thanks for directing your frustration into such a striking pick !

Merilee–that in theory is the best way to handle it but I’m pretty sure I am not strong enough to maintain my composure after they come back with a response to me and I know they will because I have tried this. I have internalized it for too many years and my rational brain has left the building. My best weapon is smile and ignore but my blood pressure suffers and my cortisol levels are off the charts. Jacki–that sounds fabulous. :) My escape of choice is either on a beach in Oregon or a cabin along the southern shore of Lake Superior. I have thought about this. Income and amenities might become a problem. :)

  15. Eeka Mouse
    Eeka Mouse says:

Hang in there! I wish more people had the ability to keep silent & smiling when stressed….
And I had to smile seeing the word ‘cordial’ in conjunction w/the round pink beads…. cherry cordial!

You guys ARE the best!!!! I have today off because I worked the weekend so I am destressing with fun things–fondling my beads like Jolene suggests! :) I am planning on wearing “Anger Management” tomorrow per Laud’s suggestion. I don’t know if one or both offenders will be there and I don’t look at the schedule ahead because I don’t want to think about it. :) Since I am the main fungus/TB expert, I do get to spend a considerable chunk of every week hiding in that Level III lab. I LOVE that! :)

I think you might consider brush your teeths Becky… :P Awesome pick ;) Hugs

Frida — You are soooo funny! LOL 8)

Becky, sometimes it helps to write a letter to the person. The important thing is to NOT send it. Just getting your feelings out can help sometimes. Sometimes I’ve talked to an empty chair (only at home — I’m goofy, but not that goofy LOL) & pretended the offender was sitting across from me. Then I really unload on “him/her”! 8O

    puppychick labratbecky says:

All of your advice and comments are very helpful, chickies!! Love you all!! Tomorrow I get to play with my friends, the fungi, so work will be enjoyable. I love my furry friends–mammal and fungal. :)

  25. Karokat
    Karokat says:

Congrats on POD! It’s a lovely, warm pick despite the frustrating circumstances. Good luck dealing with the diabolical duo. Sounds like I’d rather play with fungus than deal with those jerks too!

    Chicky Red-haired Grammy says:

Just checking in, Becky, to see how you have been the last day or so. Did bead-fondling do the trick? Forget the mirror idea – bead lust is so much more rewarding. Are you able to wear bracelets in the lab? Perhaps you could create one to wear every day to stroke when the buggers come at you … wouldn’t suggest the teeth, tho, however well they are flossed and brushed.
Have fun with the fondling. xoxo

Becky, I was just thinking about you & wondering how things are going today. Hope those “work-meanies” aren’t bothering you today, my friend! Hugs to you! :D

A component suggestion for your work bracelet – put a GGS gargoyle on it so it can make the nasty face while you just smile and smile and smile and have a giggle inside. Good luck!

    LOL — That’s a great idea, Merilee! :D

  32. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Oh my I totally missed all this because of my kitty problems. Sorry Becky. Sorry also about the annoying work people. They just make work si much fun now don’t they.
I don’t know.if they talk to you in an angry tone but something I learned dealing with the abusive ex. Read it somewhere. When the person is angrily confronting you repeat everything they say back to them in a calm tone. It shows them you heard them and for.some.reason deflates the situation. It def worked for me.
