Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Nancy, I’ve been thinking of you a lot during this holiday season and hope you’re doing as well as can be expected. That sounded like such a cliche, even though it’s true. Such a lovely pick — sure to lift anyone’s spirits!

OK Jacki says:Nancy, hugs to you as you begin this New Year. I echo the other chickies thoughts. We know your creative outlet & faith & friends will be medicine for your mind, soul & body. Be blessed, my friend. By the way, the pick is sparkly & lovely. Keep on pickin’.

Chicky Red-haired Grammy says:Nancy, You have been in my thoughts and heart these last weeks. At the best of times the holidays are often stressful and when someone is missing, the chasm left behind has no bottom.
As this is a most bling-y and yummy pick, if you don’t mind, I have a suggestion for you: take a few minutes to string together whichever of the above beads you already have (no particular order necessary as design isn’t the purpose here), finish it off as either a bracelet or necklace and wear it every day. This is a very elegant colour combo and should go with anything. Based on all your picks, the piece will be exquisite and fun and may provide just a bit of comfort.
Be well and take care of yourself.

I’m praying for you. *HUGS*

Beadlady3 aka Cindy says:This pick is perfect for my mood today, and I hope it helped lift yours.
Two of my friends lost their moms over the past weekend, so you are not alone in your sorrows. While that is probably not any comfort … know that if He brought you to it, He will bring you through it!

Medieval Momma says:a few things I find therapeutic – cuddle a kitten, browse a garden catalogue, get a new hair cut, cleaning out a cupboard or closet. Singing along to the radio at the top of my lungs! And of course anything artsy, like beading. But sometimes I just need to wallow in it for a day, that’s just me though. Anyway just listen to your inner self and do what works for you. Hope you feel better.

Deb Harding says:Granny,
I’m new here so I don’t know the specifics of what you are going through. I just know from experience that going through the holidays after a personal tragedy is hard. I hope you take comfort in all the friends here that care for you and your memories of all the good times shared. They are with you always.

Julie Shane says:Nancy, You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers during the holidays. I agree with the thoughts above. Make something pretty for yourself and wear it… just to make you smile. The Lord *will* provide the strength you need to survive, and your family and church friends are the physical manifestations of angels around you. Blessings for a 2013 that continues to improve one day at a time.

puppychick labratbecky says:I can hardly add a thing to the above comments except to add myself to the list of people who care about you. This loss is only temporary. One glorious day you will be with Harvey again. Until then, love yourself and know that we all love you, too. I think Merilee’s suggestion is superb! Make a piece of jewelry that makes you happy and wear it daily. Hugs and prayers, my friend!
On Jan 02, 2013 at 9:53 pm #
Elis Mom says:Nancy, thoughts and prayers are with you, such a loss is always devestating, but G-d does not give us more than we can handle. You are strong, and have your friends and family. I say take Marilee’s advice, then have a little fun with the “Gettin Bingy” challenge

foxhill designs vt says:A lovely mood-lifting pick! Hugs and good thoughts to you.
I hope you will consider joining our challenge. Just read the comments on Maria’s Glare pick from last week. You can’t resist laughing.

Granny Chick aka Nancy says:I’m afraid I don’t have the energy for the bling challenge but if I can find enough beads to make a nice long necklace with those colors from my pick, I think that just might be a great diversion.
And Deb… you are so sweet. I guess you weren’t here but Nov 4th my hubby of 53 years was taken from me very suddenly. He had been ill but we just weren’t expecting what happened. But the biggie is that he is done suffering and better yet he won’t suffer more as he would have if he’d lived longer. He had cancer, dementia, diabetes, and a bunch of other stuff. So I’m sure he’s having a ball on the heavenly golf course and I can’t wait to join him. I was never able to play as my back is a mess with degenerative disk disease.
So I guess I dig thru my stash and find the beads I need and get busy with a new long necklace — I love long necklaces. Thanks ladies – love you all – thank you for the idea and for everyone’s encouragement.
And I’ll pray for the gals who lost their moms – I lost mine just 3 years ago and I still can’t get used to not having a Mom to call every weekend.

OK Jacki says:Chickies, Ive had to be AWOL for the past few weeks but…just looking @ the sparkly ‘bling’ in Granny’s pick here, perhaps this qualifies as a blingy pick for the challenge. Shine on, Nancy.

Chicky Red-haired Grammy says:My mother died in December 2010 quite unexpectedly. Although she was extremely frail and fragile and suffering from dementia, she was happy and content. She loved her assisted living facility and all the staff, who loved her right back. Her paralysed right leg apparently slipped off her wheelchair pedal, causing a spontaneous hip fracture. Four days she was dead and I wasn’t there.
Life is messy.
On Jan 11, 2013 at 8:35 am #
Deb Harding says:Granny…I’ve just now seen your response..sorry I keep forgetting to look at previous picks. There are just so many. Anyway…I’m really so sorry for your loss. Its always hard to lose someone but close to the holidays can be especially so because it is a time of family togetherness and shared love. Like I said I know…I lost my Dad when he was only 57. I’ve now reached the age he was when he passed so this year will be kinda hard. I wish I could say it gets easier….I will just say it gets less immediate. I still miss him everyday.
It sounds like you had a long and happy life together. And that you may be sad that he is no longer with you but realize his life might not have been as.easy as time went on. Your image of him on the heavenly golf course is touching. And while I know you say you cant wait to join him never forget that he would want you to live your life to the fullest. So be sad when you need to be…be happy when you are…enjoy each day…and remember all the joys you both shared with a smile.
