cool pick…have you read the book?…I have seen the movie (of course!) and I am considering reading the book as well.

Yup, great book. I hear the movie is good to!! I like reading the books, because there’s so much more depth & you can use your imagination to visualize the characters the way you want!!!!! I’m looking for book 2, but they’re all sold out everywhere I’ve looked!!!!! boo hoo!

In the last few years, I have not read much fiction because I was finishing a master’s degree, I need to get back to reading for fun…we all the know the movie version is rarely better than the book version…I believe that a friend of mine bought all the books in the Twilight series.

my older daughter devoured books 1,2&3 within days… the forth one (Easter present) is still waiting to be read once she’s done with finals and back home… I was curious so read books 1&2… would have gotten thru all 4 but she loaned out book 3 to a friend who’s not done with it yet… anywho we have the movie (another Easter present) and think they did a great job with the movie.

Susan, I can imagine, you were lucky to even be able to watch movies!!!!lol…
DD, did you like the books?? I feel in love with the 1st & can’t wait to read the rest!!! My daughter turned me onto these too!! She’s 27, and works too much, so I’m glad she loves to read!!!!
Not to mention, I love vampire books!!! I read all of the Lestat books too!!!!

I did like the 1st book… the second not quite as much… thought it was sending the wrong messages to impressionable young teenage girls… there were parts that were rushed thru that would’ve been so much better had they been developed more… like the whole bit with the Volturi… but I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll say no more.

am looking for good vampire stories… will look into the Lestat books.

what about the books that the HBO show, TrueBlood, is based upon, Sookie Stackhouse is the main character.

  11. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

You should like the first 3, Anne Rice is the author, They’re The Vampire Lestat, Interview With a Vampire, that’s a couple anyway. One was made into a movie also, did’nt like the movie though, had to leave out too much!!!!

Oh yeah, my daughter said the second book in the Twilight series is her least favorite!!!! She said the last two are better again!!

  12. Anita QoG Funny Chick
    Anita QoG Funny Chick says:

I’ve not read those yet!! Have to check into those!!!! I do have the first 2 of the House of Night series, but, I don’t want to start those til I finish the Twilight books!!

Hi ladies! I like this pick, even though I am not familiar with this particular book or movie! Can I jump in with an unrelated question? What is the best item to use for stringing beads? I would everyone’s opinion so I know the best way to start. Thanks! :-)

I mostly use beading wire 19 to 49 strand medium weight… works for me cuz I rework whatever I’m working on over and over till I like the outcome… but if your doing bead weaving I’ve used beading thread conditioned with Thread Heaven… I’m probably not as experienced as most peeps on here though.

Thanks for your input. I probably won’t be weaving anything; I’m just anxious to work with the beads that I have gotten since the egg hunt…straight-forward bracelets or necklaces and such.

Hi everyone, A Golke, Ditto on the vampire books! I’ve been hooked since I was 13 and read Dracula – Have read all the Anne Rice (including her other non-vamp books). If you’re looking for others in the same genre, I can suggest Chelsea Quinn Yarbro’s Sant Germain novels – vamp/historical fiction – very historically accurate background for us history buffs with a sexy vampire to sweep us through it all (sensous, not really overtly sexual)! I’m sure there was a beading issue somewhere in this thread…HA!

    Good Eve – ning ladies!!!

funny chick, thanks for a fascinating Pick. love the chat about this book series and movie, been wondering about it due to all the publicity and popularity! I agree that usually books are better than movies. since this movie’s so popular, maybe they’ll make more since there’s more books?

they are in the process of filming the second one now, I am not sure of the release date…wow, just checked on the IMDB, it states a release date of 11/20/09!

Love the pick! I’ve read the 1st 3 books, too, but not the 4th. I’m a great fan of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries. I’ve got Trueblood and the next Sookie book both pre-ordered with Amazon. Don’t have cable so I’m really excited about getting Trueblood next month!

My family and nieces all got into the books! I agree, nice interpretation! I can’t remember if it was 2 or 3 that I didn’t like, felt like it was filler, but the fourth tied it all together nicely. Book is much better than the movie because so much of the book is main character’s personal thoughts, hard to put that into action!
