    Cathy H,

what a beautiful Pick, violets are one of my favorite flowers even though they’re pretty particular about how they’re watered – I’ve had african violets, are they different from “regular” violets?

Our violets grow outside and bloom in the spring – sort of like a wild flower, or, some would say, a weed. They are very small and grow close to the ground. I’ll have to find a picture and post it. I have had African violets too – these don’t have the fuzzy leaves. Thanks for the compliment Smart Chick!

Cathy, You’re not kidding about those pesky violets being invasive. They got started in my heirloom mum garden and nearly smothered them. I’ve been painstakingly pulling them up for 3 years now. They come up by the HUNDREDS and have very stubborn roots. I think the seeds live for years!
In the right place though, they are VERY beautiful when in bloom. I have them in my woodland garden mixed with other wild flowers. Lovely.
