Description from Sara E: My father, John Eklund, served in the Coast Guard for 5 years during WWII. His ship, the Ingham was attacked by a UBoat in the North Atlantic. While on duty in the Pacific, his ship, the Calloway, was Kamikazed. He also witnessed the flag raising on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. He is, indeed, a war hero. For many years, I wore his Coast Guard uniform for Halloween. The same uniform is now on display on the USS Ingham, retired and docked in Key West.
