Granny Chick aka Nancy says:Oh Susie, this is a lovely pick. I’m glad you did design a new one for the opening of the shop for Miss Dix. It is very appropriate indeed. I also think it very deserving of a POD.

Crazy Chick Frida says:WOOOOW Susie you rock!!! Fabulous work my dear friend
This pick is a great sequel to mine pick, those Ruby Zoisite barells looks so tempting!
On Mar 16, 2013 at 6:54 am #
Crazy Chick Frida says:Also Becky how did you got your profile to show in the shop?? My brain must have a error moment. Would be so nice if we all are shown. So don’t etsy can complain.

Lady425 aka Beth says:Susie, your pick rocks!
I’m glad you set up another pick for us to converse. The old one was quite long, and hard to keep up with.
I will be sending you a couple of pieces soon.
Just a couple of questions: Do all the payments go into your account (like with PayPal)? And the only way to find out if something or your own pieces sold is to check the site everyday, correct?
The site look wonderful!!
On Mar 16, 2013 at 3:45 pm #
Crazy Beader says:Just returned from visiting the shop – - it does indeed look wonderful ! But my picky eagle eyes spotted that although all the other pieces have a shipping charge to the US of $4.00 alone or with another piece, the “Sunshiny Day Bracelet” has a cost of $0.00 with other pieces. Maybe you wanted it to be cheaper shipped with another piece, but it may be a typo – - -

Elis Mom says:Fixed it!
Thanks for the feedback!
On Mar 16, 2013 at 4:28 pm #
Elis Mom says:Beth, as far as I can tell, if an item sells, the funds go directly into a linked account. This particular account is a savings account for Dix’s wheels.
If you email photos of pieces, I’ll email you when it sells, and then you mail it out. Does that sound OK?

Deb Harding says:Hey Susie…this a great pick to commemorate the opening of the shop. I’m running behind on everthimg because of issues with ButterBall and getting online issues. Haven’t been able to get on MSN at all to access my email account. ButterBall is having breathing issues and was at the vet this AM. I will be tweaking the Amazonite bracelet set again and sending you nee photos tomorrow. I will also be sending you photos of tje necklace I want to list. I did get on the Etsy site and saw 3 of the pieces listed. Every other box had a ? in it because of whatever issue I had with getting Online.
That has.finally seemed to fix itself. Anyway…now that my connection issues are.fixed (cross fingers) I’m off to look at the store again. Yea!!!!

Granny Chick aka Nancy says:Listen everyone, I think its important to include the purpose or mission, if you will, of this shop. People will not understand the importance of raising money thru donations if it is not spelled out.
Does everyone involved agree???
On Mar 16, 2013 at 9:43 pm #
Elis Mom says:No worries, Deb! The good thing about Etsy is you can open a shop and stock it as you go. Take care of BB. I hope he’s OK.
On Mar 16, 2013 at 9:47 pm #
Granny Chick aka Nancy says:And yes Susie, what you said sounds very efficient. We’ll mail our donations when we hear from you that an item has sold.
On Mar 16, 2013 at 9:47 pm #
Elis Mom says:Hi Nancy! I was getting ready to ask that question. I was going to tweak the profile to say we are all connected by LB. I was thinking of talking about the wheels project. Does that then make it a charitable endevor?
On Mar 16, 2013 at 9:55 pm #
Granny Chick aka Nancy says:I’m not sure what the exact wording should be but I don’t think its necessary to bring L.B. into it. Just say that a group of like minded beaders have started a fund thru the sale of donated jewelry to help animals in need. Explain that there is a dog that has hind legs that no longer functions and that the dog (Miss Dixie) needs wheels to get around and funds raised will help to do that.
In the meantime, I’ll look around to see how others word their descriptions. You can always modify it later.

Stone Treasures says:What a lovely pick and a admirable cause and how delightful to see so many contribute! Kudos Ladies!
On Mar 16, 2013 at 11:12 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:Beautiful pick, Susie! Frida, I got my profile in by clicking on Susie’s followers and then when I popped up in the list, I clicked on me and I was able to do a profile. (I think that is how I did it)
On Mar 16, 2013 at 11:23 pm #
Elis Mom says:That sounds about right, Becky. I have to say, it feels odd, having “followers”….
On Mar 17, 2013 at 6:26 am #
Crazy Chick Frida says:About charitable work it’s all the law stuff that concerns me. Dunno how to do about that and if there are a way to go around everything?
One thing I think we need to clarify is who we are. We need to be better represented.
On Mar 17, 2013 at 11:59 am #
Elis Mom says:Apparenty there are shops that donate proceeds to rescue organizations, etc..I can convo them and see if they had to do anything special.
I think saying how we met thru LB would help people understand how we are connected.
On Mar 17, 2013 at 1:55 pm #
Asia says:I saw it, it is fantastic, tried to send you an e-mail from work and it did not work, will try to do it from home as soon as I’m done here.
On Mar 17, 2013 at 7:50 pm #
Elis Mom says:Got it, Asia! Thank you so much!
Chickies, I need your opinion: Do I mention our connection thru LB in the profile? AND, do I mention we are all animal lovers driven by the desire to help a certain animal in need? Or needy animals in general?
On Mar 17, 2013 at 8:13 pm #
Crazy Chick Frida says:I think we can mention that we have meet over LB or at last at a “beadingforum”.
The second question, I dunno… What do you others think. I know nothing about the laws and what kind of trouble one can end up in. But love of animals can be mention in some way… Ohh me to tired now… I just want this to work great
On Mar 17, 2013 at 8:37 pm #
Crazy Chick Frida says:Ohh one more thing. Susie I don’t want you to get to much work but I do have some problem with that the picture are to small when viewing the designs spec. Asias. Please tell if we can help in any way?
On Mar 17, 2013 at 8:37 pm #
Granny Chick aka Nancy says:I sent Susie some info from a gal whose shop’s proceed go 100% to animal rescues. There is no need for any legalities like non-profit status. She said Etsy has a handbook that should have all the info anyone needs for any issue involved with having a shop.
So all that’s necessary is to state that the mission of the shop is to raise money for needy animals and use an example of a dog whose hind legs are non-functional and needs wheels. I don’t think much more is needed. People need to have some kind of idea of what the proeeds are supporting to make them want to help.
People often will buy from a shop like “Chickies” over another just because they know its helping needy animals. There are MANY animal lovers out there and I know many but they won’t buy until they see it in writing.
On Mar 17, 2013 at 8:46 pm #
Elis Mom says:Thanks for the info, Nancy!
As far as photos go, Etsy is set up for photos that are 570x570P. Should have mentioned that earlier. Most of the photos I was able to resize. Unfortunately, Asia’s were still too small…
On Mar 17, 2013 at 8:50 pm #
Crazy Chick Frida says:Thank you Nancy for the info
I have seen one book about etsy don’t know if it was that one. Maybe there are no problem if we just follow Etsys policies, I just got a bit scared about the lawstuff and such…
Copied from the Dos and DONTS on Etsy.
Charitable listings and shops
Etsy understands that members may wish to participate in fundraising for charitable organizations and causes. Charitable fundraising is subject to many laws, and unfortunately, there exist unsavory people who may attempt to take advantage of your good will. Therefore, for the protection of our community, Etsy has established some policies regarding charitable listings and shops that use charitable fundraising as a promotional tool. Members participate in charitable fundraising at their own risk.
•Members represent that any charitable fundraising complies with all applicable laws.
•A seller who promotes that their Etsy shop engages in charitable fundraising on behalf of a recognized tax-deductible charitable organization (for example: 501(c)(3) status or equivalent with the IRS, similar legally-recognized non-U.S. charitable organization) must receive appropriate consent from the charitable organization.
•The seller must include clear information about the organization and donation details in the listing, and/or other public area of the shop.
•Listings created solely to solicit for donations are not permitted. All listings on Etsy must be for a tangible item available for sale.
•Members must comply with all policies, including Etsy’s Community and Conversations policies. Members must not send unsolicited donation requests.
•A charitable shop involving multiple people must comply with all applicable Membership rules.
On Mar 17, 2013 at 10:39 pm #
Granny Chick aka Nancy says:That could be confusing but I still think that given the mission this shop has chosen is to help a specific animal, all that is necessary is to simply explain that mission with no names necessary in this particular case.
Now raising money via the selling of jewelry is not easy for those of us who have had a shop. The market is over saturated with people trying to sell jewelry.
The only thing that might make it easier is by using all funds to help an animal in need – like this shop wis doing. Again I don’t think any names are necessary. We are not raising funds for any particular charity – just one dog.
I think going ahead and explaining the mission of this shop very simply is all that is necessary at this time.
I don’t see how you can get into any trouble. In the meantime, we can look further into this to be on the safe side but I just don’t see how it can be a problem.
Frida, thanks for finding the info in the handbook.
As I see it, the only remaining question is whether you want to take donations from people outside L.B. My friend is ready to donate. She makes jewelry all the time and has a rescue site of her own.
She is part of an Etsy team that donates profits or proceeds to helping various animal rescue groups.
