Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:That’s the picnic table in my backyard and the view from the front door. No steps left!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 6:22 am #
Leigh D says:Holy Moly! That is ALOT of snow! We never ever get anything like that here in TN. Which is a good thing b/c no one here would know how to handle it.
On Dec 20, 2009 at 6:27 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:If you watch the weather channel, they’ll talk about eastern long island or suffolk county – that’s where I am.
On Dec 20, 2009 at 6:30 am #
Leigh D says:I saw that on MSNBC last night. I cannot imagine having that much snow accumulate so fast! I love the look of snow but absolutely hate getting out in it.
On Dec 20, 2009 at 6:38 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Not looking forward to the dig. I don’t do cold well – but I’m sure I’ll have to help!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 7:20 am #
Chicky Zee aka Alice says:Beautiful like this pick. Its still snowning here .Locked in Church cancel today .. Thats a lot of digging.
On Dec 20, 2009 at 7:22 am #
Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Huddle up, stay warm and safe and take the opportunity to bead like crazy Jeanne!!
Was hoping for at least a couple of inches.
Any idea when the snow will end for you? We only got a dusting here in Indiana.
BTW, your patio table looks like a big cake with white fluffy icing!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 7:34 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:We’ve had a few more inches since the photos. I’ll post more later. They say it could continue for a few more hours out here.
I was supposed to have an open house today. Oh well – maybe tomorrow evening.
I’m getting the fire ready – to top it off our furnace is not firing again. Hopefully it’s just that the snow has blocked the vents. Larry’s out there now clearing it.
I should get dressed because I know I’ll have to help this time. We have clear access to our elderly neighbor.
On Dec 20, 2009 at 8:37 am #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Wowza! That’s a significant amount of snow there Jeanne!
We were told here (in Western MA) to brace for a foot. We got a dusting. It stayed coastal, I guess.
Our son & daughter-in-law made it in safely to JFK last night but couldn’t get their connector to Boston.
They “slept” at Penn Station and are taking a train up late morning. Ugh!
Stay safe Jeanne, Larry & Sam and all out there affected by this storm!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 8:52 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Debbi – I’m so glad they at least were able to get east. I’ve been watching local news – There’s a lot of problems with trains. Long Island railroad isn’t running well. hopefully they’ve cleared the tracks north of here.
Larry got the furnace restarted!
He’s out now playing on his tractor. he plows the road as it will take forever for the town to get to our private road it at all
On Dec 20, 2009 at 9:00 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Wow Jeanne!! You have more snow than we do here in Canada! The last few days we have had a lot of fog and frost so all the trees look like candy floss…they are so pretty!!
Try to stay warm and safe and hopefully it will all melt away for you…or will it? When you folks get snow like this, does it stay for the rest of your winter?
On Dec 20, 2009 at 9:05 am #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:I am glad they got to the east coast anyway! Their original flight was cancelled so they did some speed packing and got out of LA about 12 hours earlier than they had planned!
Unfortunately, they got stuck in NYC! But the Amtrak is running north and they are set to leave Penn Station at 11:30 am.
SO GLAD YOU HAVE HEAT!
Take care!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 9:27 am #
CAS says:Jeanne, that’s a heck of alot of snow Chicky. I’ll have to show the pictures to Nana later (have to run off to work now), she’ll be glad she’s not still in CT. We’ve not gotten any from this storm here in NH. STAY WARM! bead well! Hugs!!!!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 10:51 am #
Kitty Chicky Cat says:Whooo! Wow! Very pretty pick and pictures! Stay warm!!
On Dec 20, 2009 at 4:57 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Jeanne, what a beautiful, snowy pick! Thanks for sharing your super-snowy photos with us, too!!! Sorry you’re so snowed in and that your open house got cancelled — hope it can happen soon.
Glad to hear you have HEAT and BEADS — the two essentials in winter! LOL
Chicky hugs and love to you!!!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Elaine – First – this is a very unusual snowfall for us here on Long Island. Reminds me of my childhood winter. It probably won’t stay cold enough for this snow to hang around all winter. But we’ll see.
I’m still mostly snowed in. We can get the Tahoe out, but not my car or Sam’s. They haven’t plowed our private road yet and the local roads just have one lane cleared. The biggest problem is wind blowing drifts off the farm fields. they can’t keep the roads clear.
THanks for the warm wishes everyone!
On Dec 21, 2009 at 7:38 pm #
Valentine Chick says:Oh my!! It sure is pretty! But, wow the dig out is not fun. We had a blizzard here in Western PA about 1992-93 and it looked very similar to your backyard! Best wishes to you and your family and elderly neighbor!
On Dec 24, 2009 at 11:25 am #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Beautiful pick and pix, Jeanne!!!!! I don’t really miss the snow. MUCH prefer photos of it instead of the really thing. I’m kind of a flip-flop wearing girl, myself…
I’ll be traveling to NYC Monday. Can you recommend any great bead shops?
Stay warm. Beads, a fire, and hot chocolate…thank heavens LB delivers!
On Dec 24, 2009 at 11:48 am #
hlt Designs says:Your yard looks like what my yard is supposed to look like. :^) We haven’t gotten much snow this winter at all, and it’s really thrown a lot of us off our game. We’re used to having snow before Halloween, and we’re just now getting any real accumulation. Love the pick…definitely reminds me of what Christmas should look like.
On Dec 24, 2009 at 12:14 pm #
Little Round Chick says:“The sun is shining, the grass is green the orange and palm trees sway….” So Cal at Christmas time.
Gorgeous white on white pick and your pictures are beautiful, Jeanne. They remind me of winter back home in the Ozarks.
Debra is right, too, beads, fire and hot chocolate. Who could ask for anything more? Now get out there and build a snow fort and stock up on snowballs!
Merry Christmas.
On Dec 24, 2009 at 12:29 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thanks for the compliments Debra, Nancy and Theatrical me. It’s kind of nice to have a white Christmas for a change. We’ve been in the tropics the past few years. Reminds me of my childhood winters here on Long Island.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
On Dec 24, 2009 at 12:38 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Debra – for some reason, my bead store response won’t post with links, soI posted it to your wire.
Are you visiting with your daughter?
have fun!
On Dec 24, 2009 at 12:49 pm #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:I feel for you, Chicky! That’s a lot of snow for one snowfall! You’ll definitely be having a white Christmas this year! Stay warm, drink hot spiced cider, and stay cuddled up with friends and family!
On Dec 24, 2009 at 10:04 pm #
ChickyD aka Debra says:I will check the wire in a minute, Jeanne. I am in between services at the moment.
Snow flurries here in Central Texas all afternoon with a high of 33. And it was 74 yesterday. Weather is crazy here in central Texas!
On Dec 25, 2009 at 6:55 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Debra – I thought of you last night when I saw the weather report last night. We’re expecting rain here, so this should all be gone soon.
