Luv2bead - Little Chick says:I wish I could!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 3:57 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Aawww, crap! Is it raining where you are?
On Apr 21, 2009 at 3:57 pm #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Yep!!
I wish it would stop!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 3:59 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Well, I’m not sure you live far enough north that you get snow in the winter months but if you do just look at it this way…it’s not snow..and you don’t have to shovel rain!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:01 pm #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Actually, we get a couple feet of snow!
And I definitely prefer rain over snow!

Smoky Rose says:still cold up there in Moose Face, Elaine?
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:37 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Moose Face?!! Funny…(I know it’s Moose Jaw) Not to feel too alone, E Gill; we have a nearby town called Frog Jump and another called Finger! Tennessee is full of “quaintness”!!! Oh, just forgot all about BullFrog Corner!!!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:39 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Moose Face…that’s funny!
lol No, it’s actually quite nice here in Moose Jaw; still kind of brown-looking because we haven’t gotten much rain to wash things off.
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:48 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:I’m still laughing out loud about Moose Face…Shannon, you’re from Tennessee! That’s cool! In our weird province of Saskatchewan, we have places called Climax, Zealandia, Old Wives Lake, Antler and Forget. I grew up in a little village called Crestwynd and went to the one-room school house called…you’ll never guess…
Wyndcrest School! How bizarre!!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:51 pm #
Smoky Rose says:good, good!
– glad you took no offense to my Moose Face comment. please never take offense – I get into goofy little moods.
Trees were hardly popping around here at all (Philly) – till 3 warm days finally this past weekend.l Now everything’s finally popping open! I’m sure yours aren’t too far behind.
On Apr 21, 2009 at 4:55 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Hey Smoky Chick, no offense taken at all; that was hilarious!! We are kinda used to funny comments but nothing ever as funny as that!
All we need is one really good, heavy rain and things will turn green; I just don’t care for going through the mucky, muddy stages again; not with our two big dogs that track everything through the house!
I’m going to have to add to my chick list where everyone lives; I find all of that very interesting!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 5:09 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Crestwynd sounds great – like something out of a brooding mystery novel!!! I love little villages and towns with unusual names – there’s always a great story behind those names – Except for Finger; just think that one’s goofy (they never specify WHICH finger???)…
On Apr 21, 2009 at 7:46 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Just got back, Shannon, and read your last comment…funny! Maybe it’s better off if we don’t know which finger! lol

J Yee smart chick says:belly chick,
you have my sympathies, despite being up in Canada. the lovely pacific northwest gets lots of rain, and many folks have that “seasonal affective disorder” during winter due to lack of enough sunshine! I always tell friends “well, it’s NOT surprising that Starbucks’ and those espresso drinks started up here, not in Hawaii where I’m from! Crestwynd eh? what a picturesqe name, kinda sounds like a gothic romance novel
…
by the way, love the mix of “cool” and “warm” beads you have here, including the rainbow blue quartz and dreamy aquamarine, makes me long for warm oceans!
On Apr 21, 2009 at 11:17 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I long for warm anything right now! Rainy and dreary all day. I do not like it when the kids have indoor recess. They need to run around.
Beautiful pick, Elaine – Make me think there are blue skies out there somewhere.
On Apr 22, 2009 at 9:03 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks so much, Smart Chick and Gem Chick! I have to chuckle a little bit, Smart Chick, when you say that Crestwynd sounds like something out a novel because all I can remember is the old barnyard with big turkeys that chased me, dusty old tractors around and a big manure pile out back! Hehehe!
On Apr 22, 2009 at 9:34 am #
Kitty Chicky Cat says:We could use rain!!!! Could you send over yours that you don’t want???!
Pretty pick btw!
On Apr 22, 2009 at 10:39 am #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I’m with Kity Chicky Cat on this one. Out here in the hot, dry part of Tx, we just keep missing out on the rain. Feels kind of wistful when we see it all going right past us, to where other folks already have too much rain! Maybe I should get out all my beads in these colors just to cheer me up. Great choices, esp. w/ the blue lace agate.
On Apr 22, 2009 at 10:45 am #
J Yee smart chick says:belly chick,
sure appreciate your descriptions of what Crestwynd was like, with the turkeys that chased you,the big barn w/ tractor… not very “romantic” just life in a farm community!
okay kitty chicky cat and happy in Texas,
those of us with too much rain will be glad to send some your way!!! I do try to tell myself that the amount of rain we get up here in the northwest is why this area is so green and the yards are so beautiful in our neighborhoods!!!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 12:18 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Congrats on being chosen! What a lovely pick — the colors are so cool and soothing, just like the rain. Another fave!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 12:30 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks Lynn.

Smoky Rose says:Good morning, Elaine, Belly Chich – and Congrats on your lovely Pick of the Day.
Is this your first? ahhhhh I remember my first – you just silently smile every time you up there and see it, don’tcha? Well, if not – why not? Enjoy!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:46 am #
DOG Chick aka Angela says:This is a great pick and I have added about $75 in beads to my cart! LOL!
I enjoyed reading the convo this morning. Very funny. Now can someone send rain to Antioch, CA? We are dry as a bone!-Angie
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:51 am #
Smoky Rose says:I have none to send right now, Dog Chick, but gimme a couple days, I’ll see what I can do. Where in CA is Antioch? ballpark.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:52 am #
Smoky Rose says:hey! you’ve got your meeting with the new med director this am, Angie – you all ready and feelin’ fiesty?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:11 am #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Happy in Texas, where do you live? I may have asked before. We’re expecting about 5-6 inches today. I’d like to send you some!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:28 am #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Debra, we are out here in the Permian Basin. It is where an ancient sea bed left behind lots of caliche rock, neat fossils, and oil and gas deposits.
I heard a story this weekend from a relative who said that as a young and naive 17 yr. old bride, many years ago, her husband brought her out here where he had a job opportunity. They arrived at night, and she heard the trains coming in. She asked him what the noise was, and he told her it was the sound of the boats coming in. He promised to take her to see the docks the next day.
She said it was quite a shock when she saw the trains and realized where they would really be living. It is hot and dry here, and pretty flat, and they had left behind the rolling green hills of Southeastern Oklahoma.
Like me, she also found that the people here make up for a lot. They are friendly, giving and caring.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:31 am #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Congratulations Elaine! I knew this was a great pick, and LB agreed.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:59 am #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks ladies! Happy in TX, I didn’t know that LB picks the featured ones, I just thought it was a random thing!
Good morning, Smoky Rose Chick, one other of my picks had been chosen for pick of the day and, yes, I did smile, because I hadn’t been here that long. It was the ‘Indian Corn’ pick. It’s very flattering to be chosen!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 10:03 am #
Smoky Rose says:that’s right, that’s right! so sorry – now I remember. hey, not half bad for a newcomer, Miss Elaine! Good for you! – enjoy ‘your’ day!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 10:07 am #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Actually, I don’t know how they choose the picks, but I am glad they have this one for us on sale beads. Really nice!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:01 pm #
Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:Nice job & a very pretty pick! Congrats on the pick of the day!
