Description from CAS: A favorite, favorite song of mine, both the original Glen Campbell version and Cassandra Wilson's very soulful remake.

You know CAS, I remember this song from when I was young (maybe 10 or 11) and I hated it so much…But when I hear it now I realize what a good song it really was! Love your pick – the astophylite (the long ovals are my favorites), the tourmaline, and the tsavorite are esp pretty together to me!!

Silly Chick you really should listen to Cassandra Wilson’s remake of it, it is so very soulful, and really makes you feel a woman missing her man. I love the Astophylite long ovals too, just haven’t bought any yet, but I think I just might have to.

Sorry It took so long – I loved it – That whole cd sounds good! What a smokey voice she has!!!! Very bluesy and jazzy!! That makes 2 cds I gotta have that chicks have suggested – Cassandra Wilson and Aaron Neville…Chicks sure have good taste in music!!!

Cassandra Wilson is one of my most favorite singers, I have every one of her CDs. She does the whole blues-jazz thing, wonderful coversongs (The Weight; Time After Time; If Loving You Is Wrong; Red River Valley; I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry; Last Train To Clarksville; Tupelo Honey; Skylark), and writes her own (Redbone; Blue Light ‘Til Dawn; Solomon Sang; Go To Mexico; Broken Drum; Drunk As Cooter Brown; Traveling Miles).

Tupelo Honey? In my top 10 fave songs – Wayne Toups (cajun zydeco) did that one and almost better that the original – Love that song!! What cd is that on – I’ve got to hear it!!!

It’s on her “Blue Light ‘Til Dawn” CD. This was the very first of her CD’s I bought back in 1993, I loved it so much I’ve just had to have everything she’s done. Check out her version of Joni Mitchell’s “Black Crow” and her own “Sankofa” on the same album, … oh, just listen to it all.

Silly Chick have you ever listened to Zachary Richard? If you haven’t you should, if you like Zydeco. Check out his “Crawfish” (very funny), “Sunset On Louisianne”, “Cote Blanche Bay” and “Dancing At Double D’s”.

You bet! Saw him at an outdoor concert many years ago – Love Zydeco – also check out Buckwheat Zydeco – If he can’t get you on your feet, nobody can!!! Wow, I think you’re the first female I’ve ever heard like that music – I’m usually the musical oddball in the crowd!

  12. CAS
    CAS says:

I guess I’m a musical oddball too, Zydeco, Ska, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Rock, Pop, Alternative, Folk, Lounge, Latin, Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Celtic, Metal … I love all of them. The only music I don’t really care for is Opera and really twangy Country.

    Shannon aka Silly Chick says:

Hate the twangy country – would rather be slapped – Although I admit it has it’s place in the evolution of our current types of music! Love cajun music of any kind – jazz and folk, celtic and some classical – opera is to be tolerated so other more cultured types don’t think you’re a hooligan!! HAHA..
