Great pick, Nancy – - especially like the African Jade with the Czech lilac dragonflies – - -

Beautiful color mix! I love the quartz paired with the rest.

I’ve been wondering – do people buy the bead chains to save time, or is there a specific purpose to them?

  3. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

I can only speak for myself on that issue but since I’m “old” and have shaky hands and have never been able to do loops and wirewrap well, I’m seriously considering using them at some point.

I would think time might be an issue as well. Anybody else have an opinion?

  4. Dropalotta Beads
    Dropalotta Beads says:

A nice thing about the beaded chains is you don’t have to buy rolls of wire. I think they’re also good for beaders with arthritis in their hands – less time gripping pliers, just open a few jump rings.

  5. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

Yup… I have neuropathy and lose my grip easily.

That all makes sense – thanks for your answers!

  7. Dropalotta Beads
    Dropalotta Beads says:

Nancy, I use Wubbers bent-nose pliers for gripping jump rings; they have thick soft foam handles that don’t dig into my palm. I’m going to replace my flat nose pliers with the Ecco pliers with ergonomic handles.

  8. Granny Nancy
    Granny Nancy says:

The handles on the tools aren’t the problem but thanks for the suggestion. My hands shake enough that its a real challenge to get small jumprings apart and back together. The larger ones aren’t too much of a problem but I do drop them.

Would one of those ‘Third Hand’ workbench gizmos be useful? The two clips hold pieces in place.
