Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:JOYCE!!!!!! You’re back!!!!!! Sorry to hear about the dry spell in Seattle (really?!?!?!), but glad it inspired you to create this beautiful pick! Love the inclusion of our hero, AquaKitty — maybe he’ll save the day and bring some rain your way!

ChickyD aka Debra says:Joyce, love the pick!!!!! So good to see you pickin’ again! I always enjoy your picks. You really have a way with color and texture. This pick is no different.
I sympathize with you! We need rain here in Texas, too. It’s in the forecast for next week which really kinda blows my mind. Hope you get rain soon!

J Yee smart chick says:thank you Lynn and Debra, sure appreciate your comments!!! and you’re right about our hero aquakitty – I put him in this one because I also wanted to have some fun and send our intrepid hero out lookin’ for some rain to send our way!!!
Debra thank you too regarding color and texture – those new keshi pearls are soooo yummy??? my trusted laptop’s monitor went kaput a week and a half ago just AFTER I turned in all my final work for the quarter!!! so I went searching for another laptop and found a used one for a reasonable price… computers, can’t live without ‘em, can’t live with
‘em…
are you both enjoying the summer where you’re at???

Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Hey Joyce!! Haven’t “seen” you in a while, how are you? I wish I could send all this rain we’ve been getting your way! Thankfully today is sunny and dry

J Yee smart chick says:Not too bad, I just finished spring quarter a couple of weeks ago, getting ready for summer… and enjoying the hot sunshine… you’ll probably laugh and laugh – folks here in Seattle think temps in the mid-eighties is waaayy too hot – partly cuz we have high humidity…
And how are you doing these days… and your fiancee and the kids??? are you all enjoying this summer???

CAS says:Joyce!!!! I missed you Smart Chick!!! So glad your computer problems are resolved. You can have my rain if you want, we just now finished yet another thunderstorm. It’s rain, rain, rain, more rain, clouds, rain, rain, even more rain … our 8th wettest June since they started keeping records here in NH. I may have to grow gills like Aqua Kitty …

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Joyce, so glad to hear that all is well with you! I figured you were just outside still reading that book you started 2 weeks ago….. LOL
Bummer about your computer crashing, but at least it hung in there until you finished the spring term.
Glad you could get a good deal on a used one, too.
Have you heard anything back on that grant you applied for for the summer? Sure hope it worked out for you!!!
Great to see you back — I sure have missed our chats, Joyce!

KPJEWELS says:Lovely pick, Joyce. You can have some of our rain also. We haven’t seen the sun in two weeks and its supposed to rain again all next week, here in Eastern Canada. LOL

J Yee smart chick says:CAS, Lynn and 3K, thank you for all your comments about rain, it finally worked as of Monday afternoon! As I was returning from Whidbey island that afternoon there was some rain. Temperatures have definitely been more comfortable w/ overcast skies since then…
Lynn, unfortunately that scholarship program that I had the interview for way back in May sent me an e-mail stating that they decided not to award me any $$… good thing I went ahead and told my financial aid office that I needed some loans to get thru the last year of my program! I’m glad that I will be able to pay for about a third of the tuition costs, thanks to some help from my dad plus a bit of my own funds.
I definitely finished that novel “The Surgeon’s Lady” by Carla Kelly a few weeks ago, she is a wonderful author. The heroine Laura is a woman who has gotten out of a bad marriage and is unsure she wants to remarry, and the hero is a surgeon for the British navy.
Wouldn’t you know it – beaders can find beads ANYWHERE… my friends and I went to a little town near where they live called Langley, and there is a lovely shop which has fabulous rugs from Asia, ethnic jewelry and beads – some gemstones, pearls and glass beads plus African trade beads… I bought a lovely strand of big amazonite “chips” which are way bigger than the “normal” tiny chip strands… and a pair of earrings strung on some realy unusual thin gold thread…
the owners are a retired couple who used to work for the diplomatic corps and they lived all over including Asia and Africa. The guy who tended the store is really friendly and welcoming, he encouraged visitors to TOUCH the items – and not to feel compelled to SPEND any $$ – he told us this is their “retirement business” so they definitely are NOT out to make $$…
How did you all celebrate the 4th this past weekend – hope you all had a relaxing and fuh time!
