Smoky Rose says:Kitty and Anita – Mom’s Birthday just isn’t working. I’ve had all the beads for over a week now, have been rearranging them all over the bead board. What works on paper and in my mind’s eye just ain’t happenin’ – I’ve never had such trouble, don’t know if it is because it’s for my mom, or what? I’m starting to think the Abalone may be too fierce for the watercolor aquamarine, chalcedony, labradorite, & tanzanite. Instead of being a foil, it looks kind of confused….. I’m thinking maybe a softer shell than abalone?….

I like the Abalone in the pick, it’s like the inspiration piece and I think it looks very watery.(personally) I would use it sparingly as an accent in a multi strand. But if you think it’s too much, the Black Shell Faceted Flat Ovals look nice and the White Shell Tumbled Drops look softer (though I haven‘t seen either in person), and I see you have some freshwater pearls already. you may not need shell at all.
