“decisions, decisions”

Description from Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick: So many beautiful purples... how do you choose.

Actually inspired by the tough decision my daughter has to make... which college to attend. The wisdom mermaid to help her decide and the guardian angel to keep her safe wherever she goes.

what a gorgeous Pick about such tough decisions, what does your daughter want to study, or is that a premature question?? Love all the splendid fantabulous rad purples, from sugilite to amethyst and rainbow fluorite. Of course that lovely mermaid is so appropriate…wishing you and her well with these decisions!

    Thank you!
She’s planning to major in spanish and possibly international studies (of some sort) She’d thinks she’d like to translate, but not sure what field. She’s fluent in Spanish, although not expert at this point. The tough decision now is
1.American University in DC at almost $50,000/year, no scholarship or aid.
    2. Univ. of Mary Washington, a VA state school, $15,000/yr, honors admission, small merit sholarship
3.UNC Greensboro – $21,000, still has to apply for honors, no scholarship, warmer
I’m sure you can imagine her 1st choice at this time…
Sorry for such a long response, it’s really stressing us out.

not to worry about your long response, brings back memories of my own decisions when I first wanted to go to college many years ago
    - whew – those are three very complex decisions about 3 very different universities, judging from your descriptions, congrats to your daughter for getting accepted by these 3 schools… American U in DC is definitely familiar to me even though I’ve never applied… in this day of astronomic tuition I’m surprised that American offers no scholarship or financial aid, how do they expect to keep attracting students?? sorry for my sarcasm – I’m a grad student myself, so I’m familiar with the dilemma of how to attend costly schools…
with your daughter’s interests I’m surprised there aren’t scholarships for her field of study, I found that there’s scholarships for all sorts of college majors by professional organizations, and ones for women…
can American help you figure some kind of financing plan out? or is that a silly question and out of the question?

pardon me for my longwinded response!

Hi Joyce – i’m back after my conference. Sam is looking into other scholarships. As far as financial aid – we don’t qualify for much, even though we don’t have the cash flow. We’ll be heading south over the next few weeks to look at the schools again. I’ll let you know how it all goes.
