    By the way,
I just got some of the cuprite rounds by mail. They’re much nicer than can be seen in the photos. Translucent and glossy like candy. The blue and speckles have this lovely subtle layered appearance. Very pretty – more like an opal than a turquoise (they look a little like a turquoise substitute in the photos).

Regina, I have some of the Cuprite and it is gorgeous! I don’t know what I’m going to make, but I do know I want to combine it with Smoky Quartz.

Cuprite and smoky quartz could be nice. The smoky quartz would be very glossy and transparent, but the darker gray color is also muted – nice play of texture, color saturation, and transparency. The smoky quartz nuggets (sold in combo with crystal quartz) are about the same size as some of the cuprite rounds and the irregular shape is also a nice contrast.

I was thinking of maybe combining it with the facetted citrines. I really want to find a way to highlight the translucency of the cuprite though and the citrines might steal the show. Maybe pearls? Or something very flat matte?

Fun pick and title! I notice you have a few cracked eggs here…LOL!

I’ve combined citrine nuggets with turquoise and copper and the effect was spectacular. My turquoise was more of a teal than a blue. I think your idea of facetted citrine and cuprite would work really well!

Beautiful pick, Regina! Great “eggs” to go with the nest! :D

Thanks for the info on how the cuprite looks in person. I’ve never ordered any because it looks so much like turquoise and I already have a lot of that. :D

Love the design ideas you ladies have come up with tonight!!! :D

Did this pick give anyone else a flashback to the infamous Easter egg hunt of ’09?!?!?! ROTFLOL

Thanks for the heads up on the cuprite Regina. I’ve looked at it several times but it appeared to be so similar to African Turquoise that I didn’t consider buying any of it. Time to reevaluate.

Where are the birdies? Maybe another pick? I’ve heard rumors of some sort of aquakitty prowling around the site. Maybe the birdies got eaten?
