Fantasy Fresh Picks
Posted by Ali on September 29 at 04:02 pmThere were some great Fresh Picks last week! It looks like Cuban Queen and WLB created true classics with Apple Picking and Arizona Sky. Not only were they in the top 3 last week, but they were #5 and #6 this week! We have 3 new favorites this week and I love them all.
If you create Fresh Picks that you’re proud of – be sure to add them to the comments below so we can all check them out. Maybe we’ll even add you to our favorites.
The top 11 this week:
- Merlot & Moonlight
- Pacific Coast
- Old Stories
- Mojito
- Arizona Sky
- Apple Picking
- Coffee Beans
- Ariel
- American Nightshade
- Blue Jean Baby
- Harvest Wheat
What I love about the top 3 favorites:
Merlot & Moonlight – This sounds so relaxing and peaceful. I love the banded agates mixed with the smoke filled sparkle of the Rainbow Obsidian Drops and the Druzy Pieces. The use of pearls and cz with ruby and garnet offers an interesting contrast in transparency and luster. This pick gets an A from me.
Pacific Coast - Oh how I would love to be there right now. The colors in this piece, work well to evoke the colors of the pacific as the light reflects off the waves in the evening. I am in love. If I were going to design something from this great pick, I think I might try some sea blue freshwater pearls or one of the mermaid pewter pieces by Green Girl – what do you think?
Old Stories – What a great name! This reminds me of tales that I would read as a child that were followed by fantastical dreams of castles and dragons. To my delight this is what I found. The use of ruby zoisite for the color theme with stones to complement is really great. I think of the mote around a castle for the abalone! If I designed something with this one, I might try adding a little plum freshwater pearl.
What do you think Lima Beaders?

J Yee smart chick says:Dear Lima folks,
Thanks for yet another great “top three”, the “Old Stories” one is one of my favorites too! I too read many volumes of fairy tales when I was a child, and still have much fondness for them. One series (out of many) that I like is the one about “elementals” (people with powers related to the four elements of earth, water, fire, air) by Mercedes Lackey. Now those might make some fun “fresh picks” eh??

Rachel says:Oooh! I really like “American Nightshade!” And I do like the mystical theme of” Old Stories.” A lot of the Green Girl Pewter pieces could be such great characters in a fairy tale!

Kitty Chicky Cat says:There is something very appealing about “Merlot and Moonlight”. I can just see someone sitting outside in the magic stillness of midnight holding a glass of deep red liquid. Perhaps wearing a red dress?
I love “Old Stories” (both the pick and the tales). This fresh pick makes me think of knights, fair maidens and good dragons. A silver key might also look good with this piece.
I also really like the rich autumn tones of “Harvest Wheat”. The pick looks like the celebration of the last warm rays before the cold comes and shuts everyone indoors. It looks good enough to eat!
