My Last Post as a Single Guy

Posted by Matt on October 09 at 09:22 pm

It’s 8 PM on Thursday and I’m leaving for Frankenmuth (and my wedding!) in just a few hours. After being engaged for a year and a half, I honestly can’t believe that it’s already here.

I hope that after the wedding, things will slow down a bit. This past week has been the most hectic week of my life. The only thing keeping me sane is the thought of what comes after this Saturday. Not only do I get to spend every minute with my best friend, but we’re spending next week in Costa Rica.

Don’t tell Deidra (my fiance), but I think I’m more excited for the honeymoon than the actual wedding. :) Our resort is on the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by rainforest. The pictures make it look pretty gorgeous. However, I’m a little nervous because the only foreign country I’ve been to is Canada. I’m really not sure what to expect. Also, I’ve heard that all it does is rain this time of year.

When it comes down to it, I’m nervous about the honeymoon for the same reason that I’m nervous about marriage — they’re both foreign territory for me. Just like the rain in Costa Rica, I only hear the bad things about being married.

Despite all of the unknowns, I’m confident that I’ll make the best out of it. However, it’s always great to hear some good advice. If you’d like to share your experiences (with marriage, foreign countries, or both), feel free to drop it in a comment below.

I’ll be seeing you after the honeymoon, wish me luck!

-Matt

NOOOO Matt – Don’t do it!!!

Just kidding. Marriage is great, best thing I ever did… Hopefully Ali reads this – it should be worth at least 10 points.

    Congratulations!!! How exciting!
I wish you both all the joy and blessings that marriage brings.
May your home be filled with laughter, may your hearts be filled with love, and may your days be filled with sweet companionship.
Congratulations again on the start of your journey together.

    I’m so happy for you and your soon-to-be bride. I didn’t marry until I was in my mid thirties ( a confirmed bachelorette). It’s the best thing I’ve done in my life – there’s a lot to be said for waking each morning with the one person who loves you more than anything in the world! Problems? Sure bet – but easier faced together than alone! Be happy :}

Whoops-make that the Olympic RAINFOREST in the pacific north west-I’ve lived in Wash. state for a long time. It’s great if you can handle the rain-probably perfect for a quiet getaway. Many good wishes.

Okay, beadaholchick – are we semi-neighbors? I have been wondering. I’m down here in Thurston County.

Hey Bonnie-I’ve been in the Snoqualmie Valley (North Bend) for about 20 years. Great place for artists & crafters-probably because we need something to do inside from Sept-June!!

Hey Matt, It is all about commitment. Everyone starts out in love, but it is those who honor their commitment to work out the problems ( and there will be problems) that make it in the end. I know of what I speak as I am coming up on 39 years of marriage to my high school sweetheart.

Despite our many ups and downs we love each other more now than ever.

    Good Luck,

    Brenda

Congrats! It’s not as bad as it seems. I’m probably married as long as you are old.
Best wishes to both of you.
