Favorite Fresh Pick Variety
Posted by Ali on November 13 at 01:58 pmWe’ve got lots of different inspiration here this week! Chocolate (always awesome), fall in the Southwest, aloe, snow and rain (not sure how I feel about these two), starry skies, marine life, flowers, and one of the most popular songs of all time. For those of us in the northern parts of the country – winter is coming and there’s nothing we can do to stop it, so we might as well make picks and design lots of pretty things.
This week’s Top 10:
- Chocolate on a Blue Day by CAS
- SouthWest Fall Garden by Haute Rawx
- Aloe by Tab
- Snow Bunnies by Jyll P
- November Rain by Cuban Queen
- Snow Falling on Cedars by Beadaholchick
- Night of a 1000 Stars by Lima
- Dolphins And Sharks by Perlemamma
- tulips and daffodils by Julie v
- Amazing Grace by Sandy S
Chocolate on a Blue Day -Yummy. I think we are in for several blue days this November, at least in Michigan. Chocolate days are ahead – yeah! I love the blue stones you chose to combine for this pick – blue calsillica jasper, chryscolla quartz, blue pietersite & blue tiger eye (great for depth), blue goldstone (nice touch of sparkle) and finally Peruvian blue opal (a personal fav). The antique jasper is definitely chocolaty.
SouthWest Fall Garden -This reminds me of this great place Kevin and I stay at in the Catalina Mountains. Breathtaking. This pick does a beautiful job giving the Southwest Fall colors. I love love love the mix of peachy pinks with greens and oranges. The pieces of Stampt gold chosen are perfect – sun face charm, vine print qypsy hoop, feather, and scrolling 3 ring connector. I’ve been staring at this pick for nearly an hour, unfortunately I have to move on. I hope some jewelry gets made from this pick – I’m sure everyone would love to see some pictures. (hint hint!)
Aloe - Clean and Refreshing. I really like the combinations of green stones you chose. Peace jade and lemon chrysoprase are very soft and well… peaceful. The Canadian jade and Green Garnet add depth; and the apple green turquoise, China chrysoprase and yellow turquoise offer the punch. As always Green Girl adds that extra special touch of nature. I can’t wait to see what you make from this!
Great job this week everyone. I’ve noticed a couple new fresh pickers – Welcome!
We are planning some improvements to the Fresh Picks pages so stay posted.
If you’re inspired today, tell us why or better yet, show us!!!

Haute Rawx says:Hey Beadaholchick! I watched the video of Snoqualmie Falls. Wow! I used to live in North Bend back around 1987 to 1990. Do I remember the rain. It is so amazing to see those trees go over the falls. I am heading up to Washington tomorrow to visit family. I have my rubber ducky suit packed, I know I will need it. Loved looking at all the Picks. When I get back I am sure I will have more inspiration from all of you. You are blessings in my life.

Sharla d says:I’m really enjoying putting together designs for the fresh picks. I usually add pearls to the mix in honor of the salt water in all of us.

Kevin says:beadaholchick – I think it’s cool how you used the placement of beads in the fresh pick to go from white beads at the top (the snow) down to darker green at the bottom (cedars). Nice! Your must have had to do a log of dragging around.

CAS says:Haute Rawx – I tried out Kevin’s new “VOTE for your favorite” by choosing yours (I thought it wouldn’t be PC to vote for my own). I love all the picks this week, so it was a hard choice, but yours just spoke to me. It’s a “happy” pick, full of shades that cry out bright, warm and sunny (which it hasn’t been here in NH for the last week).

CAS says:I really love everyone else’s too!!!!! I’m just a sucker for yellows and oranges.

CAS says:Cuban Queen – I love your pick “The Birth Of Venus”. Your bold use of orange-red and turquoise is amazing. I’ve paired red and turquoise, but have never thought of pairing orange and turquoise, genius!

CAS says:JJones – LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your “fire and ice”!!!!! It’s hot and cool at the same time, definately something different. It’s gone straight into my favorites, and it’s something I would design with. Wonderful!
Did I say how much I LOVE it.
