The retiring camera has served you well! Looks like the new one is a great camera as well. We bought a new (smaller) Canon and are so pleased with it. HOWEVER, as an English major who goes nuts over stuff like this (ask my kids - their eyes will roll), the word PREDECESSOR would be describing the camera which came BEFORE the one you retired. Kathryn (the picky:)

Alice- I do love Canon. We don't use an uplight, we've found that it injects too much light into the more translucent stones and alters the color. Photographing beads (and jewelry) is such a challenge...

A salute to your old trusty camera, and a warm welcome to the new! My hubby and I love to travel and have always used Canon cameras. So it was a given that I would use a Canon when I began my jewelry biz. I, too, have a Canon Rebel digital and have been pleased. Hubby likes that we can switch out almost any of our current lenses with it.

A question...do you use an uplight for your photography? I have been thinking about purchasing one, but not quite sure if it would be worth the expense, or just a waste of money.

Time is moving way too fast. It seems like yesterday that we were photographing beads in that tiny apartment.

I was able to dig up some photos taken with the old camera.

The first is a picture is of our lazy dog in the first ever Lima Beads office (spare bedroom) shortly after bringing the new camera home.

The second is a picture of Alcatraz that I took from the docks of San Francisco. The zoom abilities of that camera always amazed me.

The third picture was taken on Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island, MI.
