The Easter Egg Hunt

It’s the contest you’ve all been waiting for! A while back, Alice P came up with the idea of a scavenger hunt for our next contest in the comments of Steve’s 2009 by the Numbers post. Since Easter is right around the corner, we figured an Easter Egg Hunt would be a great idea. Okay, it’s not technically a scavenger hunt, but we hope that you’ll have just as much fun!
There are a total of 16 eggs scattered throughout the site. You have until midnight on Easter Sunday (April 12) to find all of the eggs. If you find all of the eggs, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $250 gift certificate! If you can’t find all of them, that’s okay. You’ll still have a chance to unlock some other great prizes.
The Prizes
- Find 4 or more eggs to get a FREE Bronzite Thin Pillow Pendant 60x40mm
- Find 8 or more eggs to get a FREE Brazil Sodalite Puff Square 14mm - 16″ strand
- Find 12 or more eggs to get 15% discount on your next order
- Find all of the eggs for a chance to win a $250 gift certificate

The Rules
For the complete rules for this contest, visit the Easter Egg Hunt page. Here’s a quick overview before you get started:
- The contest ends at 11:59pm on April 12th (Easter).
- There are a total of 16 eggs scattered in secret locations on the web site.
- We can’t offer rain checks, so be sure to place your order when you qualify for a prize.
- Each person can win one of every prize listed above.
- Please don’t share the locations of the eggs. This ruins the fun for everyone, so play fairly!
- Have fun!
By the way, your first Easter Egg is hidden somewhere on this page! Find it and click it! Good luck, and have fun!
Update #1 (April 6 at 4:40pm): We’re running extremely low on the Lapis prize! We’ve replaced it with a Brazil Sodalite Puff Square 14mm strand on the hunt page. If you still have the Lapis in your shopping bag and you really want it, hurry and place your order–there are less than 10 strands left!
Update #2 (April 6 at 5:02pm): We finally caved in and posted a HINT that will help you find one of the hardest eggs. Head on over to the Lima Lunch Specials page and put your thinking caps on…
Update #3 (April 8 at 10:50am): Still searching? We’ve posted another hint… you can find it on the Fresh Picks page. It’ll help you find the most well-hidden egg! Happy hunting!
Update #4 (April 10 at 3:20pm): This will be the last hint! We went through everyone’s eggs, and determined which were the hardest to find. Hopefully this tidbit helps: if you find out what Lima Beads was up to last fall, you might find an egg (or two!). And just to make sure you don’t miss anything right under your nose, make sure to re-read every last bit of this blog post. Happy hunting! Remember, you have until midnight Sunday night to find the eggs!

I saw some old beads on here that are out of stock but I would really love to be able to have an image of it for future reference. Plus, I think everyone would appreciate it so they won’t forget about a particular item. 2) Can you add a feature where we can search Fresh Picks by title? It’s great that we can search them by stone but sometimes you want to go back and comment on a particular fresh pick but can’t find it, or you want to see if there’s already a fresh pick with the name that you’ve chosen for your own. I can say this… each egg has been discovered at least once, and at least one person has found them all. Tab is right–you have to “go deep” to find them all. There are some tough ones, but we *definitely* could have been meaner.
Hints? The jury’s still out…

Cuban Queen, I think those are great ideas. In fact, I think we have some things in store that will address both Fresh Pick searching and pictures of out-of-stock items. Love the pewter. I probably won’t use nuggets, the ovoid shapes, or big focal pieces. However, I have really taken a liking to the puffed rectangular shapes. I love agate, but I’m not as fond of jasper.
Anyone else find that they are gravitating towards particular groups or shapes?
And no, I haven’t found any new eggs. I am thinking at throwing some virtual easter eggs at Matt. The virtual yolks should be easy to get out of his clothes

I wanted to let you know that tomorrow (Wed) we will give a hint for what I think is the most difficult egg to find.
I also wanted to mention that as of today, very few people have found all 16, so if you reach 16, the odds of winning the $250 gift certificate will be pretty good. I would guess 1 in 30-40, but that could change if a lot of people find their 16th egg at the end of the week.
I must admit, I was out of town when Matt and Steve hid the eggs on the site and I still don’t know the locations of all 16. I asked Matt today what he thought the single most difficult egg to find was and he said…

The group started posting in December and had our first sale last week, second sale yesterday. It takes patience, however can work. I am also trying to sell local through our church and to friends at work who know me and are interested.
It takes time, patience, and a little more money, especially in the beginning, however if you keep these things in mind, and are persistent, it can be rewarding.
I am going to force myself to get off of here soon though. Think I will go ahead and place my order before doing so as between work and home I lost my Tuesday deals from my cart…don’t want that to happen again.

I was ready to ‘pack it in’ way back at 11/16. Just knowing that it was possible to find all 16 kept me in the hunt. The hints helped and I enjoyed the mental challenge of ‘noodling’ the hints. Somewhat new to Lima compared to others, in the course of the ‘hunt’, I have found new places and NEW WAYS TO GET TO THE SAME PLACES(Hint,Hint). With 2 more eggs to find, my commitment is less intense. I have NEVER won anything based on luck. A few BTW comments: I swear there is an egg in the doorway of the Fairy Door: ‘At the Ark’, I clicked on it at least 100 x’s. I find it amazing that A. Golke hasn’t found the egg in her own basket!
Now some general Comments accumulated during the Hunt:
What has happened to the SILVER?? I hope this is coming. I, too, prefer one-stop shopping when possible.
Matt’s blog(s)on Deidra’s necklace: the revelation, the community participation, the video and the reveal. That you would share something so special is endearing. BTW, Matt, you have the hands of a concert pianist.
Fun to find out that Ali & Kevin are a team within a team. Hopefully, we can all watch Payton grow.
The motherhood blog, finding time with a little one. ‘Finding time’ is a life-long challenge. School in your youth, then, with the ‘significant others’, partner, wee-ones, then, making a living (career), then, extended families(maturing parents, grandkids, adult children) and finally, the challenge of aging. There comes a point when you ‘make the time’. Choices & priorities (short version). This blog had so much potential. It just kind of fizzeled.
Interesting to discover that Luv2bead is a youngster (relatively speaking) when her(?) designs are so accomplished. Must be talent, or is it in her genes?
Final comment:Could someone please help me understand the ‘Chick Clique’?

I keep racking my brain over the hints, and when I come up with a thought I get overwhelmed when I look at the possibilities. Those last 2 pesky eggs are probably some of the easiest to find and I’m just too blind to see them (or more like too cross-eyed by now to see them). I’m more disappointed in myself that I can’t find them. I’ll keep trying for a while before calling it a night. Congratulations to everyone that found all 16. Please, please, please let us know where the Easter Bunny hid them all.

Only 3 more!! But I think I might not be able to look any more. I just can’t sit here and go through more pages. My eyes are going to fall out! Let alone, I’m not sure WHERE else I could look!!!! *sniff* Oh well. It was fun while it lasted and I got free stuff and a coupon so I’m still happy. Got Beads says:I found 11 so close to 15% coupon, darn it it any way. This was a ton of fun. What could the next challenge be stars and stripes or firecrackers for 4th of July. Witches, goblins, ghosts, pumpkins, black cats for Halloween, turkey drumsticks for Thanksgiving, beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments for Christmas. I can only imagine the fun you have trying to out do yourselfs next time. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun being totally frustrated–oh yeah it was a rubic cube.
