Some of my favorite memories are autumn memories, too. Being a Texan, fall never meant much to me. I’d read about it in books, of course, but it really doesn’t happen here in Central Texas. It’s just not quite as hot, I guess….

I lived in central Indiana (Greencastle) for 12 years. That’s where my children were born and spent their early years. I made adorable hand-smocked clothing for them and photographed them in the “fall foliage”. I lived in a pre-1886 house with lovely high ceilings and a wrap-around porch. My best memory is inviting my best friend and her daughter to come over for the “last warm day”. It was a tradition that usually occurred during the first week of November. I would make home-made pizza, and we would sit on the porch eating pizza and drinking wine into the wee hours, appreciating the warm evening and beautiful sugar maples. Usually a cold front would arrive later in the week, and I wouldn’t go out on the porch again until April or May. Those memories are so precious to me. Now I’m back in Texas where I enjoy warm sunny days the year ’round. I still appreciate the “last warm evening of the year”, though.

Our anniversary is in March and we will be married 35 years in 2010. Hard to believe the time has flown by so fast. Spring has always been my favorite season! I love the fresh, clean smells and colors, the newness and rebirth of everything — it symbolizes hope to me. I love the colors traditionally associated with Fall, so I do look forward to it for that reason, but not because Winter is coming. Brrrrrrr. Not a cold weather fan at all. Summer has its good points, too — fresh fruits and veggies, walks outside, sandals with pedicures. LOL I guess each season has something good and fun to offer — such as new beads and jewelry to make!!!

My favourite time of year is summer if it’s not too hot. I don’t like extreme temperatures. I do enjoy spring because everything is so clean and fresh. I love the fall when all the leaves are in full colour. Winter is my least favourite. I’m getting too old to like the cold anymore, so, I usually hibernate pretty much in winter. LOL.

Regarding seasons of the year, my vote goes to spring, when trees, plants and flowers are “waking up” from winter and beginning to bloom, the freshness and soft bright colors attract me… but I’m glad to hear that you love autumn best, each season has its highlights!!!

Seriously, it does sound like fun. My wife and I went camping outside Traverse City this past summer over July 4th weekend and loved it.
