The Crossword Sale

Hello LB.com…what a great idea to start off 2010…I have printed out the puzzle and will be working on it as I fly home today!

This is going to be sooooooo much fun!!! I love crossword puzzles — I do several daily ones and have books of them that I take places with me! Beads and crosswords — now all we need is some chocolate!

When do you have to complete the crossword puzzle by to get the prize?

Well I have it over half-way done…I was thinking to get the prize you’d have to have it done within days!!! I guess I know some of the things that will be on sale! Thanks for letting me know I don’t really have to rush!!

I thought I had the bonus word/s, but I was wrong

I did the puzzle, but I’m confused about the secret word(s) – are abbreviations allowed in the answer?

Can’t figure out the bonus word – this is driving me nuts

I have tried, no luck, I guess back to the crossword board

Not sure I have #17 and #22 is a pain in the neck. I thought I had it. Oh no it didn’t fit. (PS I have never been a cross word puzzle lover)
It taxes my brain too much. LOL

I’m SURE I know #14 but I don’t see how it relates to beads at all!!! Unless they’re edible beads LOL

I’m hoping that the ones I don’t know will be one of the next filled in (by LB of course because I don’t think I’ll be able to figure them out)!

FINALLY! With the help of my wonderful hubby, we figured out the crossword puzzle!
The word scramble however, has us both stumped!!
What is THAT word?!

LUCKY YOU!!! I’m still stuck on the ones I’ve been stuck on From what I have (I’m only missing 2 red circles) I have no CLUE on the word scramble either! It’d be nice if LB would give hints on the scramble! HINT HINT HINT!!!

enjoyed solving puzzle/scramble! …was not 100% sure on a couple words so I tried unscrambling circled letters to see if they were right …turns out I had one word/circle wrong… fixed! and am looking forward to checking in daily on the unveiling of the sale items Thanks LB!

i just looked at the weather report for ann arbor. ouch -1 degrees. Fridgid. There may be some electrical problems. Something obvoiusly isn’t changingthe date in one section. since the corossword clue shows up but not the turn on date. (the will show up on jan 9th date) I will hope for the best.

I agree with Alice aka Chicky Zee, thank you for making the pendant sale work. I clicked off last night about 4:45qm (this morning) with pendants in my bag. Hope they are still there I have to submit my order before too long.

Just sort of wondering, I have in my wish list for a while now “Natural yellow agate flat oval beads, will there more stock coming in? Thank you so very much.

I had an item in my bag … with about 5+ days left to purchase … and then I received a note in my shopping bag saying that it was sold out “sometime after I added it to my bag”. Rather disappointing to order something in the sale and not to actually be able to get it.
The email I received to promote the Crossword Sale said, “as long as you add an item to your shopping bag on the day of the sale, you’ll have 7 days to complete your purchase and get the reduced price.” I thought it was like the other time-expiring sale on the Green Machine – that the item was pulled from inventory and reserved for me at that reduced price.
I love Limabeads, and I still placed my order … but where did I miss that that important bit of info that this was actually “first come – first served” and that sale items were subject to disappearing from my bag before the 7 days were up?

I just went to the crossword page, clicked on the #9 question to pull up the pendants, but none of them are shown as on sale. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Bonnie R…thanks for the comment…I work with preschoolers…after that hint, it didn’t take long to put it together! How does every child speak when they really want something? Love those Lima Beads!

This is a great idea and I just solved the mystery word. It took some thinking but it makes sense and it was fun. Thanks Lima for always keeping it interesting.

I was able to figure out the secret word but it sure wasn’t easy. It did turn out to be fun though once it was over. My gift was waiting for me at home yesterday. It is really awesome and so are the other beads that I ordered. I am not supposed to be buying beads right now but I just couldn’t resist when faced with such wonderful choices. Thanks again for all your help at Lima Beads.

I wasn’t real fond of the crossword puzzle thing never have been good with them. Finally I figured all the words and was probably last to figure the secrete phrase. Well I want you to know I was doing something else on the computer and it just slammed me in the face. Well actually I mashed my forhead with the heal of my hand. Like how dumb was I to not know it and how did it finally come to me just in time. Thank you Lima Beads for driving me crazy for a month, my brain definitely needed that. I just do not use it enough.

P.S. The real reason I am now typeing this when I should be asleep is because; I miss looking for the daily word sale across the top of the page and adding to my shopping bag. Oh well I certainly have bought far too much for the month of January anyhow. LOL

The secret phrase was “GIMME BEADS” — very appropriate, don’t you think, Faith? LOL

The hardest part about solving it for me is that “gimme” isn’t really a word…..

Thanks LB for a fun month…I spent way too much $$, but got some beautiful beads. Maybe even got rid of some of the cobwebs in the brain. Solved the puzzle, I thought, and wanted to use gimme beads as the secret phrase, but had a wrong letter until the 22nd when I discovered my word fit, but was incorrect. Now to ‘the bead room’ to see what I can do with all my new ‘pretties.

Lb has been very quiet lately – I wonder what they have been devising to confound us with this time. Simon Lafilligre must be hatching a plot of some kind.

Maybe AquaKitty and Tad are helping Simon and Simone in their plotting to drive us mad again!!!

Lynn I wasn’t here last Easter and everytime I hear you all discuss the egg hunt I get more and more curious about it. What did you all have to do? Sounds even though you all thought you’d go crazy that it was fun.

Faith — LB hid 16 colorful eggs all over the site & we had to find & click on them. We earned prizes for finding 4, 8, 12, & 16. At the 4 & 8 levels, you won beads. At the 12 level, you won a coupon code for 15% off. At the 16 level, you were entered into a drawing for a $250 LB gift certificate. Very few people made in into the drawing and it was won by Classy Chick aka Jill!!! You could win any & all of these prizes.

The eggs were easy to find at first, but harder and harder as time went on. Some were in the Fresh Picks archives, the charities section, the pistachio pearls section, the beads….AARRGGHH!!!!! We searched deep and deeper, because you had to bring up a pearl (for example), then bring up the “closer/larger” photo to find the egg there. YIKES!!!

The best part of the Infamous Easter Egg Hunt of 2009 is that so many of us really got to know each other then for the first time (this was before the Garden) via the comments on the picks and the blog for the contest!!! Wonderful friendships were formed! This was also when the Chicking of our names began.

I still can’t walk down the egg aisle of my grocery store, though, without having flashbacks……ROTFLMAO

Sooo funny and I guess madenly fun! I don’t know if I could have handled the computer match up the egg thing. I like looking back over everyone’s every thing though. It’s fun for me to see all the creations.

I do think the Egg Hunt helped LB realize how much fun it would be for us to have a separate place (The Garden) to visit and chat! We did some serious posting back and forth on the fresh picks back then…..LOL

Plus, it is great to have the Design Gallery now to post our work and view other beaders’ work!!!

I think someone must have realized what a great selling tool to have us create picks and show each other creations to get new ideas to need new beadies. LOL
