I usually pick a single category for my “girlfriend gifts” each year: bracelets, earrings, pendants. Then I narrow it down to a certain style or technique I want more practice with: steampunk, chainmail, wire work, bead stitching, etc. That gives me enough limits, and I can customize from that point. I find I get the gifts done much more quickly, with less stress.

This summer, I asked all the women in my family to email me a picture or two of a trip they took the past year that they really enjoyed. I got great photos – beaches, leaves in fall weekend trips, New York, England, etc. My plan is to design jewelry for them for Christmas using thier vacation photo for inspiration. I’ll include a scanned image of thier pic on the package card with thier piece, maybe a little note about the trip. So far it’s going well, and the great thing is that I get to shop for specific unique-y’s!

I,too, have been starting on the jewelry for the holiday gift giving. Your ideas are splendid and will be very helpful to me as I gather more on the list, lots of ladies on my list…both young & older! Among my pieces will be a SteamPunk item for my 13yr old grandaughter, that should be fun! Thankyou for sharing your ideas with all of us.

oops, here’s my organizational tip. I have a bead holder with large sections- I wrote ‘Holidays’ on it with a sharpie marker. Whenever I bring home beads that I think will work for a holiday like Christmas or Easter, I stick it in that box. When I start thinking about Holiday jewlery, I go to that box to start the design~

I’ve been thinking about doing a Christmas Pick, lol, so maybe I can see what others are thinking aboout Christmas, lol…and maybe get some great beads at 20% off as a POD!!
