Mary S - Sweet Chick says:COOL! and perfect for Frodo!
Just last night I was thinking I need to do some Hobbit/Middle Earth picks and POOF! here it is this morning.
Great minds really DO think a like and at the same time too!

J Yee smart chick says:thank you sweet chick,
have you seen the animated “Hobbit” and 3 part “Lord of the Rings” movies – silly question, and what did you think? I was a bit surprised by how some of the characters looked (you know how imaginations are
but loved the story, characters and gorgeous New Zealand scenery for “middle earth”!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Yes, I’ve seen them all, many, many times.
I first read the books LONG before there was even talk of the movies.
Yeah, I think my idea of the characters changed after seeing the movies.
Although some things were left out in the movie for time sake, I was impressed with how well they stayed true to the story.
I did miss Tom Bombadil though and it threw me at first when they tweeked the part where Arwen was the heroine instead of the elf Glorfindel during the rescue of Frodo at the flight to the Fords.
But I’m over it.
I wish they would make the Silmarillian into a movie. That would be great!

J Yee smart chick says:well sweet chick, thanks for your comments about the movies, sure appreciate what you say about the changes. Yep, the movies were somewhat too fast paced for me, despite their overall long length, lotsa special effects, sometimes the story development could have been better.
Hope that you’ll still do some Middle earth picks, like for Arwen or Aragorn eh??
joyce

Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Love the three, Lord of the Rings!!!!! I must confess, I did not read the books! My son has them all, and read them several times. But, I did read the Hobbit. I want to be a Faere!!!!lol Perfect Pick!!!! Smart Chick

J Yee smart chick says:funny chick,
good to know ya like these stories, they’re not the easiest to read, tolkien gives very sparse character descriptions and sometimes development… glad to hear ya wanna be a faere, did you like how
Arwen was portrayed in the movies by Liv Taylor, or Aragorn by Viggo mortenson??? thought they made a dreamy couple!!!
On Apr 10, 2009 at 5:21 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Yes!!! I agree!! Would you give up so much for a man you loved, like she did for her mortal man?? They had some very gorgeous male faere’s!! yum yum!! ( I’m terrible at remembering names) at least from movies!!!! I loved the guy who played the dwarf, such a cute little hairy guy!!
I did think they picked the perfect actor for Gandolf (my spelling) the good wizard anyway!!!
On Apr 10, 2009 at 10:18 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:funny chick,
Arwen gave up her chance at going to the Summer country didn’t she, losing all chance to remain immortal, because she chose to remain behind with Aragorn!
… hhmmm, might have to do some more Picks for some of these characters, with all the dreamy new moonstones!!!
yep, I also don’t remember all the names, had to go look up some of them just now, hee hee… the elf Legolas w/ the blond hair who escorted the hobbits to Rivendale was Orlando Bloom, fun to see him later in “Pirates of the Caribbean” with his natural dark brown hair!!! yes I don’t remember all the dwarf guys either. I did like the actor who played Gandalf, he sure had the right face! I also liked the actor who played Frodo and his companion Sam Gamgee, the funny hobbit and his other companion hobbit Merry

Classy Chick JbyJill says:Beautiful!! Perfect interpretation. My husband and I own all the movies. It has been a long time since we have watched them. Hmmmmm…. maybe sometime this weekend

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Smart Chick, I will defintely continue Lord of the Rings picks. I did one a long time ago called Lady Arwen, inspired by the character and my sweet Husky pooch of the same name. Also one called Lothlorien.
My German Shepherd is named Strider. Maybe I’ll do one for him too.
On Apr 11, 2009 at 7:17 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:Sweet chick,
good to know you did one for Arwen a long time ago, what was it named? would like to see it! I was considering doing one for either both Arwen and Aragorn, Arwen herself and Aragorn himself…
gotta find those remaining last few eggs!
On Apr 11, 2009 at 7:24 pm #
Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Smart Chick, It’s called “Lady Arwen”.
Go to my fresh picks and you’ll find it.
I’m giving up on the egg hunt. I’ve found 14 but I just can’t look any more. SIGH.
