Oh, Becky — I hope this doesn’t mean you have one! I get debilitating migraines quite frequently and the auras, nausea/vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound/smells are just horrible. Hope this is only what you think one might be like. 8)

Oh Noooo!! I know that early symptom all too well! Hope you’re not going down this road today! All I know is, as soon as I notice the first symptoms, it’s time to act and take something. Otherwise it’s too late and I just have to wait it out.

This is pretty, but all I could think of when I saw the title was Ouch!

Thanks for your concern, Lynn and Mary! Actually I am on the last day of a 3-day migraine. The ones that start with auras last the longest. (I am one of those really lucky people who have several versions of these lovely biological events.) I take something right away, it doesn’t kill them, but it does a good job of dulling them. I still have to ride them out but I can usually function. I did play hooky from work today, though, because I just didn’t want to deal with this and work. Doing this is much more fun. :)

Yikes! Sound as though migraines affect quite a lot of us creative types! Hmmmmm Perhaps the silver lining in all that pain? 8O ;)

Becky, I’m glad your “3-dayer” is almost over! 8)

Perhaps it does have to do with the creative side of the brain. Fortunately mine left me when the change of life finally arrived. The migraines, I mean. Glad to hear you are on the up-swing!

I get migraines, too, (as Lynne described) but no auras. Sympathies!

    Oh, Yes :( sounds familiar… So sorry…
I have auras and all the jazz… I feel them starting on the end of my nose believe it or not . It starts getting numb, then auras go and I hardly can see and then the rest follows… But mine if I catch on time and have a ristretto or Turkish coffee or pure caffeine will go away. Actually beta blokers help with migraines in many cases.

So sorry you had a migraine, Becky! I used to get migraines too; I guess the theory might hold true (creativity/ migraines). I remember getting really nauseous while I was driving on I-95 at around 75mph on the way home from a business trip – I ended up in the hospital that time. I could sometimes fend off the migraines by eating vanilla ice cream as soon as the auras started – my grandmother used to say it worked for her, and I thought it was weird, but it worked! Has to be ice cream though – frozen yogurt doesn’t work for me. I’ve now just about gotten rid of the migraines, due to my osteopathic manipulation doctor. He wasn’t really treating me for migraines – he was treating me for back and neck problems due to a car accident, but whatver he did made the migraines just about disappear. I haven’t had one for over a year. *crosses fingers* Apparently studies are being done to determine how osteopathic manipulative medicine affects migraines. I’d vote for it!

I know about the migrane aura’s all too well. I used to have them a lot…but as I’ve gotten older, they don’t happen as much anymore. I could always tell when one was about to happen….the feeling is so scary. I don’t know how one gets them, but they run in my family on my Mom’s side and only to most of the women. I’m sorry for those that experience these awful migrane attacks. Please know you are not alone. *hugs*
