Sorry to hear you have had a bad time of things lately….
I have friends and family who are diabetics also… and it was hard
at first… but there are lots of good foods that you can eat… it’s
all a matter of changing some things…. being a foodie myself,
I helped them find good recipes that were wonderful tasting and good for us all…. please be encouraged… things will get better…

Chickie Nonnie T says:Hi Bonnie,
Love the beads in your pic, they’re so beautiful…I’m so sorry to hear that you have received that diagnosis of diabetes. It runs in my family also. I was borderline but so far have dodged that bullet. Hang in there, grab a couple of good looking cookbooks and join a diabetic forum online. You can probably pick up some great tips from some others that have been diagnosed for a while. It would also be a great support for you. Take care, I’ll be thinking of you..

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Bonnie, so sorry to hear of the diabetes. Life certainly has it’s up and down. We too have had bad news with the worse was having to put our dog down on Sunday. So get some cookbooks that will help you.Look at diabetic exchanges as you learn about your new lifestyle. You too are greiving for a lifestyle you should not have. A wise friend is also going thru alot of changes and she said that one must learn to bend. Without bending if we refuse the change it will break us. I keep trying to be a willow.

Bonnie R says:thank you ladies, I appreciate it. It had been a rough day at work. A 21yr old receptionist wanted to act like a 13 year old, I guess it just was too much. Hubby came back last Saturday so that help/or not. 3 months without him you get into your own routine. So thatnk you ladies I needed the encouragement. by the way – there needs to be more food options in our stores for things with out sugar. I can’t believe how much “good for you” food has high levels of sugar. No wonder as a nation we have problems. Oh as a side note – I’ve lost 14lb in the week and a half I’ve been on this meat and veggie diet. Haven’t weighed this in 10 years.

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Congrats on your new figure! Look at all the new clothes you get to buy! Probably bad for the budget. Don’t know if hubby coming back is good or bad but if you truly love each other and have a solid foundation and both want the same things it can be wonderful. Frogiveness can set you free. Don’t know how long you have been married but men need to grow up. We take that diamond in the rough and polish and facet it to help it reach it’s full potential and make it shine.

Bonnie R says:Thank you Dawn. It will be 25 years come June. This was the first time we had been apart for more than a week. Taking care of All of our animals, house and other assorted problem by myself was stressful ( first notice of high blood sugar happened before he got back) so it was a loss of some kind of independance but also the arrival of a loyal support system. Here is a picture of us in Yakima in September. This is Greg I and the youngest and the two grand-daughters. Yes I drove to Yakima with a 16yr old female in the van. Talk about sarcarsim.

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:I can imagine! I don’t miss the teen years too much! I had to truly raise my girls by my self….. Being the wife of a railroad man kinda makes you very independent. The men are not home much and when they are they are beat! When we were first married I drove us from Miami Fl to into TN thru the mountains, towing a car behind. Hubby slept in the back seat. He couldn’t figure out how I could drive all night like that and still function. I told him that why you will never be a mother. Great picture! It will make good memories later.

L Berriman says:Bobbie ~ So sorry to hear about the diabetes!! I don’t know what I would do as my main diet consists of fruit popsicles and chocolate pudding!!! I’m sure you’ll be fine! Sounds like you have a lot of people behind you.

Bonnie R says:Thank you for your kind thoughts.
It has gotten a little easier, got rid of the negative information from a naturopath and got me a good Internist she got me on some real meds and thinks have leveled out a bit. I have lost 26lbs since last September and dropped 2 slack sizes. My average count went from 8 something to 6 in just 4 months which is pretty good. I’m healthier, but also aware of everything that can go wrong. I’m trying to take time for myself by working less (I have way too much accrued vacation)
