Elis Mom says:OK. Found it! Love this spooky pick! I assume it’s an homage to Lord of the Rings?
On Sep 11, 2012 at 9:40 pm #
foxhill designs vt says:You assume correctly. I love LOTR. I remembered the gargoyle after posting, so had to turn it off for a minute.

puppychick labratbecky says:Did you guys read the books? see the movies? I read the books as a teenager. Then later I saw the movies and the director, Peter jackson, was just dead on with his vision and creation. Tolkien wrote so descriptively that everyone who reads his books has nearly the same mental images of the creatures, the scenery, and the action.

puppychick labratbecky says:Jolene, he is the perfect addition!

foxhill designs vt says:I read the books several years ago, around the time the first movie came out. We own the movies, so I have seen them all multiple times. I can’t wait for the Hobbit movie! I was going to do just a general LOTR pick, then I thought of the GGS eye and went in the darker direction.

puppychick labratbecky says:Sauron trying to see the ring……

Julie Shane says:WOW! It’s been YEARS since I read them…and I’m an English teacher…shame on me. However, I saw the symbolism in this pick immediately!
Read the series as a teenager then again in college. Haven’t seen the movies. Does that tell you how old I am???

Elis Mom says:I used to have one of the original Hobbit books….it had some sort of see-through cover, story notes, original Tolkien sketches, and the translation of the elfin language in it, along with some amazing artwork! If you never read The Hobbit, it would be so much harder to make sense of LOTR. I am such a loser for losing that book!

Laud says:So clever, especially the eye. You might want the wizard charm for Gandalf. Ah, if only there were something for Aragorn…

Luna Chick aka Coral says:Fantastic LOTR pick. You really capture the sense of doom perfectly.

SquirrelGirl says:I love LOTR! Great job with this one!

puppychick labratbecky says:Julie- you have to see the movies! They capture the books perfectly.

Crazy Beader says:Lots of drama here even if you didn’t know the LOTR reference – - stunning pick !
