seashellsally says:Please thank your son for his service. And, thank you, for your courage as a mother.
Your pick reminds me of a movie.
Just watched ‘Taking Chance’. Excellent movie starring Kevin Bacon, it is based on a true story. Also Marines.
Very sobering movie. If your son is active and overseas in the ‘action’ you might want to avoid this one.
But for anyone else, I would recommend it highly.
In our family we rate ‘tear jerkers’ by the number of “hankies” i.e, one-hankie, a little sad at the end, two-hankie movie=good cry. ‘Steel Magnolias’ is a 10- hankie movie. ‘Taking Chance’ is a-whole- box-of-Kleenex movie, just about cried through the whole movie.

Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:Thank you for your comments seashellsally. I always tell him when someone asks me to tell him thank you but hes the kind of kid whos very modest and considers it as his job. He’s been over there twice, in 03, one of the first into Baghdad as a Machine Gunner on a Humvee and just came home in Sept. from his second tour. Now hes at Camp Pendleton, starting his 9th year and teaching on the weapons range and expecting a new baby boy in Sept.
Havent seen the movie yet but would like to soon.

seashellsally says:Your mothers pride is well founded.
It is my Easter prayer that all our boys will be able to come home for good. For you and your son, he has certainly served well. Expecting a son, so special.
Camp Pendleton, we pass it enroute to San Diego, I’ll wave next time.
If I remember, Chance from the movie ‘Taking Chance’ was also a gunner on the Humvee.

Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:Yes, I’m very proud of him. My nephew is now at Boot there in SD. Sounds like your located in CA if your enroute to San Deigo and pass thru Oceanside/Camp Pendleton.

Kitty Chicky Cat says:All of you who know someone who was or is in the military or are yourself, tell them thank you for me. Because of them I can choose to live my life, to marry or NOT marry whomever I choose, I can walk out the door in whatever I want, I can vote, I can work, I have a voice, I have freedoms others can only dream of. So thank you, to every man and woman who gave of you time ,in one form or another your life, for me so that I can live free! It means more to me than I can say. May GOD bless you for all you have done for strangers and keep you safe, wherever you are. Have a happy Easter!

seashellsally says:Well said Kitty CC.
We honor the warrior even if we disagree with the war.
We are thankful for our freedoms.
Amen.

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:‘Ditto’ the above comments! They are very brave, both young men and women and their families. I’m not sure how well I would fare if my son went into a situation like that.

Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:I agree wholeheartedly with all of your comments. Everytime I see someone who is wearing a military emblem or fatigues, I always stop and talk to them. Many times they’re a veteran of one of the wars and always give my thanks to them.
There was one time when a car chased me down because they didnt like my Marine Corp stickers on my car and they just had to let me know how wrong they thought I was for supporting my son and the troops. IMO it doesnt matter what others think as long as you have the right attitude of what you believe in.
