The Poison Tree butterflies match Missficklemedia’s patinated pieces so well, I just had to come up with something. I tried to create a flutter with this necklace using segments of chain and gemstone beads in shades of violet, green, and copper.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 2 Missficklemedia violet satin round 10mm
  • 1 Missficklemedia violet brushed rondelle 11x17mm
  • 1 Missficklemedia violet oval toggle clasp
  • 2 Missficklemedia peacock blue link16mm
  • 1 Poison Tree pink butterfly 33-34x27-28mm
  • 5 dark purple line agate faceted freeform slab 25-37x24-28mm
  • 4 chrysoprase tumbled nugget 12-20x19-16mm
  • 15 Chinese turquoise (stab.) tumbled nugget drop 5-10x13-23mm
  • 10 ruby and sapphire multi stone faceted round 6mm
  • 3 natural lemon jade round 6mm
  • 2 antique copper (plated)18 gauge jump ring 4mm
  • 7 copper 2” headpins 22gauge
  • 2 4” lengths of artistic wire bare copper 24 gauge
  • 2 6” lengths of fantasy hand dyed silk ribbon
  • 1 2” length, 1 1” length, 1 8” length and antique copper (plated) falling ring chain

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

I wanted make the chain appear thicker and full of flutter so I folded it in half and joined it with a jump ring. I did this with both the 2” length and the 8” length. Once you do this with the 8” length, now making it 4”, string a length of gemstones to match and fasten to the end of the chain. Then connect to the toggle ring.

Step 2

I wanted to further soften the appearance of the necklace so I added bits of ribbon above the butterfly and on the left side of the necklace. I also added charms into the chain.
