About this design:
I knew in the 3rd grade, when my mom got her first electric typewriter, and handed her manual Brother down to me, (oops is my age showing) that I had a passion for writing. I was the best three finger typist in the 3rd grade! When I saw this wonderful pendant by Kylie Parry, I just had to have it.
Buy the supplies:
The products in this design are listed below.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Cut a piece of 2mm natural brown leather cord to about 7 inches. Wrap one end through the left side hole of the pendant and tie a knot by wrapping the cord around two or three times and pulling it back through. Before pulling the knot tight, put a dab of glue, the Lima Studios epoxy will hold it for a lifetime! After the glue has dried, snip the tail of the leather off. |
Step 2: Cut a piece of 22 gauge purple Artistic Wire to about 12 inches. Lay 1/4" of the wire along the end of the leather cord and wrap the wire tightly around the end of the cord from the end toward the middle and back again so that the wire ends up facing away from the pendant. The inner wrap of wire should be very tight to hold the leather in, but the outside wrap can be loose and messy for a more organic look. Run the wire through an 8mm dark bronze Czech glass fire polished round bead, leave about 1/4" and loop through the last link of 13 inches of handmade small diamond and oval antique brass chain. Finish the wire by wrapping in the same fashion toward the bead and back, tucking the tail of the wire firmly into the wrapped portion. |
Step 3: Cut a 5" piece of Beadalon.015" 49 strand beading wire and crimp one end to the back of the knot on the leather near the pendant. String a mix of 4mm medium topaz AB faceted crystal rondelles and gold and olive green dancing drop freshwater pearls to about 3 inches. Wrap the strand loosely around the leather and crimp the the wire on the other end. See Tip: Crimping Basics |
Step 4: Cut two 5" pieces of Beadalon .015" 49 strand beading wire and run them both through the same 2mm antique brass crimp tube. Crimp them to the last link on the end of the chain. Sting a mix of beads on each wire. I used the pearls and crystals from the other side as well as 8mm dark bronze Czech glass fire polished round beads, peacock heishi pearls, 6mm medium topaz AB faceted rondelle crystals, and 4mm matte luster opaque amethyst Czech glass fire polished round beads. When you have 3 inches strung on each strand, run both wires through one 2mm crimp and crimp them to a 15x9mm antique brass lobster clasp. |
Step 5: Attach two 8mm antique brass jump rings to the other hole in the pendant to attach the clasp to and you're done! |
